Abstract and Topics
Following the successful series of PATCH workshops, PATCH 2024 will be
again the meeting point between state-of-the-art cultural heritage research
and personalization – using any kind of technology, while focusing on
ubiquitous and adaptive scenarios, to enhance the personal experience in
cultural heritage sites. The workshop is aimed at bringing together,
physically and/or virtually, researchers and practitioners who are working
on various aspects of cultural heritage and are interested in exploring the
potential of state of the art mobile technology (onsite as well as online)
to enhance the CH visit experience. The expected result of the workshop is
a sharing and discussing novel ideas and creating a multidisciplinary
research agenda that will inform future research directions and hopefully,
forge some research collaborations.
Motivation
Cultural heritage (CH) has traditionally been a privileged area for
personalization research, as highlighted by the many H2020 calls on this
topic. Visitors come to cultural heritage sites willing to experience and
learn new things, usually without a clear idea of what to expect. CH sites
are typically rich in objects and information; much more than the visitor
can absorb during the limited time of a visit. Cultural Heritage
exploration and fruition are central aspects to value the richness of the
territory and the history of our countries. The research on this topic is
very active and continuously expanding towards new topics, such as the
integration of cultural and natural heritage exploration, the extension to
novel interaction means (e.g., haptic user interfaces and IoT), ambient
intelligence, etc.
We invite cultural heritage professionals and researchers to join us to
discuss findings and trends on personalisation of cultural heritage in the
broadest sense, from online and remote cultural access to onsite visit,
from individuals to groups, from tangible to virtual and robotic mediation.

Full papers: up to 14 pages excluding references.

Papers that exceed the page limits or formatting guidelines will be
returned without review.
Submissions should be single-blinded, i.e., authors’ names should be
included in the submissions.
Papers must be formatted according to the new workflow for ACM

An international panel of experts will review all submissions.

SPECIAL SESSION DESCRIPTION

The fast development of Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and
Mixed Reality (MR) solutions over the last few years are transforming how
people interact, work, and communicate. The eXtended Reality (XR) term
encloses all those immersive technologies that can shift the boundaries
between digital and physical worlds to realize the metaverse. According to
tech companies and venture capitalists, the metaverse will be a
super-platform that convenes sub-platforms: social media, online video
games, and ease-of-life apps, all accessible through the same digital space
and sharing the same digital economy. Inside the metaverse, virtual worlds
will allow avatars to carry out all human endeavours, including creation,
display, entertainment, social, and trading. Thus, the metaverse will
evolve how users interact with brands, intellectual properties, health
services, cultural heritage, and each other things on the Internet. A user
could join friends to play a multiplayer game, watch a movie via a
streaming service and then attend a university course precisely the same as
in the real world.
The metaverse development will require new software architecture that will
enable decentralized and collaborative virtual worlds. These self-organized
virtual worlds will be permanent and will require maintenance operations.
In addition, it will be necessary to design an efficient data management
system and prevent privacy violations. Finally, the convergence of physical
reality, virtually enhanced, and an always-on virtual space highlighted the
need to rethink the actual paradigms for visualization, interaction, and
sharing of digital information, moving toward more natural, intuitive,
dynamically customizable, multimodal, and multi-user solutions.
This special session aims to focus on exploring how the realization of the
metaverse can transform certain application domains such us: (i)
healthcare, in which the metaverse solutions can, for instance, improve the
communication between patients and physicians; (ii) cultural heritage, with
potentially more effective solutions for tourism guidance, site
maintenance, and heritage object conservation; and (iii) industry, where to
enable data-driven decision making, smart maintenance, and overall asset
optimisation.

SUBMISSION AND DECISIONS

Authors should prepare an Abstract (1 - 2 pages) that clearly indicates the
originality of the contribution and the relevance of the work. The Abstract
should include the title of the paper, names and affiliations of the
authors, an abstract, keywords, an introduction describing the nature of
the problem, a description of the contribution, the results achieved and
their applicability.
As an alternative to the traditional abstract, it is possible to submit a
Graphical Abstract. For further information, please see here:

When the first review process has been completed, authors receive a
notification of either acceptance or rejection of the submission. If the
abstract has been accepted, the authors can prepare a full paper.
The format for the full paper is identical to the format for the abstract
except for the number of pages: the full paper has a required minimum
length of five (5) pages and a maximum of six (6) pages.
Full Papers will be reviewed by the Technical Program Committee. Authors of
accepted full papers must submit the final paper version according to the
deadline, register for the workshop, and attend to present their papers.
The maximum length for final papers is 6 pages.
All contributions will be peer-reviewed and acceptance will be based on
quality, originality and relevance. Accepted papers will be submitted for
inclusion into IEEE Xplore Digital Library.
Submissions must be written in English and prepared according to the IEEE
Conference Proceedings template. LaTeX and Word templates and an Overleaf

Scope
GoodIT 2024 will feature special tracks whose aim is to focus on a specific topic of interest related to the overall scope of the conference.
We solicit proposals for special tracks to be held within the main conference and whose publications will be included in conference proceedings. Tracks proposals can focus on any contemporary themes that highlight social good aspects in the design, implementation, deployment, securing, and evaluation of IT technologies.
Special Track Proposal Format
A special track proposal must contain the following information:
Title of the special track
The names of the organizers (indicatively, two) with affiliations, contact information, and a single paragraph of a brief bio.
A short description of the scope and topics of the track (max 1/2 page) and a brief explanation of: (1) why the topic is timely and important; (2) why the topic is related to the conference’s main theme; (3) why the track may attract a significant number of submissions of good quality.
Indication if a journal special issue is associated with the track, possibly with information on the process of selecting papers.
The plan to disseminate the call for papers of the special track for achieving a reasonable number of paper submissions (a list of emailing lists will help).
An outline of the foreseen reviewing process to ensure the scientific quality of the accepted papers including a tentative list of program committee members.
A draft call for papers (max 1 page).
Selection of Special Tracks
Accepted Special Tracks will be curated by the Special Track Chairs, possibly involving other members of the conference’s organizing committee, and possibly discussing details with the Track Proposers.
Publication
Papers submitted to each particular track have to satisfy the same criteria as for the main conference. They must be original works and must not have been previously published. They have to be peer-reviewed by the track’s Program Committee (at least three reviews per submitted paper are required). The final version of papers must follow the formatting instructions of the main conference. At least one of the authors of all accepted papers must register and present the work at the conference on site; otherwise, the paper will not be published in the proceedings. All accepted and presented papers will be included in the conference proceedings published in ACM Digital Library. The special track may provide an option for publishing the extended versions of selected papers in a special issue of a journal.

After the shock of the pandemic, learning ecosystems – and in particular
schools, universities, and territorial learning communities – all over
the world – are facing a new phase characterized by the search for and
the experimentation of ways to their “*new normality*“. This is within a
world that seeks to protect at best and incentivize the economic
recovery that although relevant is still subjected to enormous risks.
Among the main areas on which most of the industrialized countries and
Europe are focusing on, there are: the transitions towards a green and
circular economy, smart digitization of the production processes, social
innovation, active citizen participation supported by technologies, and,
finally, the education for all. In such a context,*collaboration*is
emerging as an approach and an attitude of considerable relevance that
stays also at the basis of the polyphonic construction of the future of
learning ecosystems.
Alongside/collaboration/, on the technological side, it continues to
rise the relevance of intelligent systems, generically collected under
the label of*Artificial Intelligence*(AI); concurrently, on the
pedagogical side,*competences*have become the goal of future education,
also in the attempt to close the skill gap, which represents one of the
greatest dangers for the transition towards smarter productive systems
and societies.
Competences and AI, by the way, are also topics that intersect and
influence each other and rise questions of*ethical nature*. Last but not
least, they are likely to require an organizational and didactic
revolution of the learning ecosystems, thus requiring to question the
possible consequences in order to build a more adequate future. In turn,
this step requires inspiration from best practices to leverage the
advantage of the growth of individuals and the expectations of the
communities.
What should we expect for future learning ecosystems? How “smart
learning ecosystems” are changing? How such changes may be related to
the achievement of “a better learning for a better world

does not simply means “technology enhanced”. The smartness is a more
complex multilayered construct related to the wellbeing of the players
operating in the ecosystems and is affected by the improvement of any
relevant aspects of the learning processes and ecosystem functioning,
especially if connected with territorial development and social innovation.
Technologies are mediators. Hopefully they should be included but they
are not a “sine qua non”.
The achievement of the learning ecosystems’ smartness is a process that
need a long term vision, multidisciplinary competences, an attitude to
understand people and contexts and to mediate point of views, a dynamic
resilience to keep on track to achieve, step by step, the foreseen goals.

We welcome research (16 pages) and industry papers (12 pages) following the Springer
Lecture Notes in Computer Science format. Submissions will be handled via

• Omit all authors’ names and affiliations from the title page
• Do not include the acknowledgement section, if you have any, in the submitted paper

Both research and industry papers will be reviewed by members of the same program
committee (check the website for details). Proceedings will be published by Springer in
their Lecture Notes for Computer Science (LNCS) series. An award will be given to the best
research and the best industry papers.
The authors of selected papers from the conference will be invited to submit an extended
version (containing at least 30% new material) to a special issue in the Journal of Systems and
Software (Elsevier). More details will follow.

In an era defined by digital transformation, the intersection of technology
and healthcare is reshaping the landscape of medical practice and patient
experience. The “INI-DH: Innovative Interfaces in Digital Healthcare
Workshop” is at the forefront of this revolutionary evolution, addressing
the key role of visual interfaces in healthcare.
The workshop aims to bring together innovators, healthcare professionals,
designers, and researchers to explore the multiple applications of visual
interfaces in digital healthcare.
INI-DH delves into designing, developing, and implementing cutting-edge
visual interfaces, including intuitive apps, augmented reality tools, and
virtual healthcare experiences.
The use of user interfaces will be explored with the help of artificial
intelligence for creating content, touch screens, voice assistants,
chatbots, intelligent assistants, wearables, and viewers for real,
augmented, and mixed reality, which support health, health behavior, and
well-being.
Participants will gain valuable insights into how those interfaces can
improve patient care, enhance diagnostics, and streamline healthcare
workflows.

ACM Conference on Intelligent User Interfaces (ACM IUI) 2024 is the 29th annual premiere venue, where researchers and practitioners will meet and discuss state-of-the-art advances at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). Ideal IUI submissions should address practical HCI challenges using machine intelligence and discuss both computational and human-centric aspects of such methodologies, techniques, and systems.
The theme for this year will be Resilience, covering a wide variety of topics, such as COVID-19 recovery, organizational cyber resilience, economic growth and stability, climate change recovery, intelligent user interface resilience, and similar. While we encourage submissions related to this theme, the scope of the conference is not limited to the theme only.

IEEE Mobile Cloud is a pioneering IEEE sponsored international conference devoted to the
research in mobile, edge, and cloud computing. It covers all aspects of mobile, edge, and
cloud computing from architectures, techniques, tools and methodologies to applications.
This year's conference is scheduled to take place in Shanghai, China, from 15-18 July 2024.
IEEE Mobile Cloud 2024 is part of the IEEE International Congress On Intelligent And Service-
Oriented Systems Engineering offering a broad spectrum of international events, sharing

PAPER SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Papers must be written in English. All papers must be prepared in the IEEE double column
proceedings format. Please see the following link for details:

All accepted conference papers will be published by IEEE Computer Society and IEEE Explore
digital library with EI-index. Selected papers will be recommended to SCI-index journals
as special issue papers.
The paper length should be up to 8 pages for regular conference papers and 6 pages for
work-in-progress papers. Submitted papers should contain original work and not being
submitted elsewhere. Each paper must be presented by an author at the conference.
Presentations via teleconference are not permitted. Permissions to have the paper presented
by a qualified substitute presented may be granted by the TCP Chairs under extraordinary
circumstances, upon written request.

The CAiSE Forum is a space within the CAiSE conference to present and discuss the new
exciting ideas and tools related to Information Systems Engineering. The Forum intends to
serve as an interactive platform, encourage potential authors to present emerging topics and
controversial positions, and demonstrate innovative systems, tools, and applications. The
Forum sessions at the CAiSE conference will facilitate the interaction, discussion, and
exchange of ideas among presenters and participants. Contributions to the CAiSE'24 Forum
are welcome to address any of the CAiSE'24 conference topics and, particularly, this year's
theme—Information Systems in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.
We invite two types of submissions:
• Visionary papers present innovative research projects, which are still at a relatively early
stage and do not necessarily include a full-scale validation. Visionary papers will be
presented as posters in the Forum.
• Demo papers describe innovative tools and prototypes that implement the results of
research efforts. The tools and prototypes will be presented as demos in the Forum,
accompanied by a poster.
Both visionary papers and demo papers must not exceed 8 pages in LNCS format.

Papers should be submitted in PDF format through the conference management system

PUBLICATION AND PRESENTATIONS
Accepted papers will be published by Springer in a CAISE Forum proceedings volume within
the Lecture Notes in Business Information Processing (LNBIP) series
(https://www.springer.com/series/7911). Authors should consult Springer's authors
guidelines and use their LaTeX or Word proceedings templates for the preparation of their
papers. Springer encourages authors to include their ORCIDs in their papers. In addition, the
corresponding author of each paper, acting on behalf of all of the authors of that paper,
must complete and sign a Consent-to-Publish form. The corresponding author signing the
copyright form should match the corresponding author marked on the paper. Once the files
have been sent to Springer, changes relating to the authorship of the papers cannot be made.
It is expected that at least one of the authors attends CAiSE'24, presents the poster/delivers
the demo, and interacts with the Forum participants. We also envision a short oral
presentation for all papers to attract participants to the posters.
