Cari Tutti e care Tutte, Faccio seguito al mio messaggio di circa un anno fa per invitare nuovamente chi di voi non l'avesse già fatto a rinnovare la propria *iscrizione ad ACM SIGCHI*. E' davvero importante dare massima visibilità a livello internazionale a una comunità scientifica attiva e dinamica come la nostra. Per questo motivo vi esorto *fare iscrivere anche tutti i nostri studenti di dottorato*, che pagano una quota simbolica e che rappresentano il futuro dell'HCI italiana. Un modo per farli sentire parte attiva di questa comunità sin da subito. Quest'anno questo mio appello è particolarmente sentito, perché siamo prossimi alle elezioni del *SIGCHI 2024 EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE*, che si apriranno ad Aprile e termineranno a Maggio/Giugno 2024 e che vedono la candidatura dell'attuale *Presidente Neha Kumar e di Luigi De Russis, in qualità di Executive Vice President* (i due nominativi “running as a team”, vanno votati insieme). Penso sia superfluo sottolineare l'importanza del ruolo di Executive VIce President affidato a un membro della nostra comunità, che negli anni scorsi ha dato grande prova di sensibilità verso le iniziative portate avanti dai nostri gruppi di ricerca, suggerendo di volta in volta strategie e strumenti che SIGCHI mette a disposizione per favorirne il successo. E' anche per questo motivo che vi chiedo di massimizzare gli sforzi e, cogliendo tutti i benefit della membership cui ho accennato, *votare Neha Kumar e Luigi De Russis*. CFP: EICS 2024 Workshop: XP2: Experience 2.0 and Beyond – Engineering Cross Devices and Multiple Realities

CALL FOR PAPERS Experience 2.0 and Beyond – Engineering Cross Devices and Multiple Realities http://hciv.de/xp2/ June 25, 2024, Cagliari, Italy In conjunction with The 16th ACM SIGCHI Symposium on Engineering Interactive Computing Systems (EICS 2024) Augmented and mixed reality (AR/MR) are found very promising. Even handheld displays, including smartphones and tablets, can provide a wide and low budget access to AR/MR. However, current research and applications in this area faces many challenges (e.g., suitable interaction techniques, better experience, navigation in MR environments, high cross-device UX) which limit the application in real-world activities. Targeting these challenges, our workshop will provide a platform for researchers, developers, and professionals from academia, industry, and arts, to discuss issues and define novel interaction paradigms, user interfaces, 3D visualizations, and application for cross-device AR/MR. Workshop Topics The workshop will be dedicated to observations, concepts, approaches, techniques, development, and practice that allow understanding, facilitating, and increasing the advancements of AR/MR applications. The submissions will be reviewed based on workshop relevance, academic rigor, creativity, innovation, and applicability. The extended version of workshop papers will be published in a Springer LNCS book series proceeding. At least one author per accepted position paper is required to register for the workshop. The workshop will be held in synchronous mode. Each accepted paper will feature a short presentation. The holder of this position has an excellent publication record, experience in leading various interdisciplinary projects, experience in supervising students and young researchers, and has successfully conducted basic and applied research in the field of new and future approaches in human-computer interaction and future interaction, with a special focus on current developments in the field of artificial intelligence. The objective of the III.Lab is to develop fundamentally new interaction approaches in the context of challenging contextual conditions ("Challenging Contexts"). Special topics of the III. Lab are Intelligent Interaction Artifacts and Environments, Human-Centered Automation ("Human in the Loop"), Next Generation Human Centered Design Methods and Tools, Societal Interfaces and Hybrid Futures. The duties of the position include teaching (courses on Human-Computer Interaction) and supervising theses and dissertations. Finally, the holder of the position is expected to make a significant contribution to the further development of the III.Lab, to act as a bridge between the organizations involved in the III.Lab and to develop them further. General employment requirements are: 1. A completed domestic or equivalent academic qualification (doctorate) in a field that corresponds to the subject of the professorship; 2. habilitation (venia docendi) or equivalent academic qualification; 3. relevant, internationally visible research at the highest level in the areas of Human-Computer Interaction or corresponding sub-areas; 4. proven pedagogical skills and teaching experience at university level; 5. international networking; 6. academic leadership and social skills; 7. English and German proficiency: very good command. Additional skills expected of candidates: 1. Ability to co-operate and establish interdisciplinary links between different subject areas; 2. engagement for interdisciplinary thinking and working in interdisciplinary contexts; 3. ability to combine basic research with applied research; 4. experience in the acquisition and administration of third-party funded projects and co-operation projects with companies or research institutions 5. team and communication skills, interdisciplinarity, resilience. This half-time position (0.5 FTE) will be filled as soon as possible and for a fixed term of five years in accordance with § 99 UG 2002 and the collective bargaining agreement for universities (A1 salary group). The position will be complemented by a half-time Principal Scientist (0.5 FTE) at the cooperation partner AIT. The salary can be negotiated (minimum of EUR 5.404,- per month gross plus additional 13th and 14th monthly salary payments).
