Dear Colleagues, We are delighted to invite you to submit your work to the ACM Symposium on Engineering Interactive Computing Systems (EICS) 2024, to be held in Cagliari, Italy, from June 24th to 28th, 2024. The Forum intends to serve as an interactive platform, encourage potential authors to present emerging topics and controversial positions, and demonstrate innovative systems, tools, and applications. The Forum sessions at the CAiSE conference will facilitate the interaction, discussion, and exchange of ideas among presenters and participants. Contributions to the CAiSE'24 Forum are welcome to address any of the CAiSE'24 conference topics and, particularly, this year's theme—Information Systems in the Age of Artificial Intelligence. We invite two types of submissions: • Visionary papers present innovative research projects, which are still at a relatively early stage and do not necessarily include a full-scale validation. Visionary papers will be presented as posters in the Forum. • Demo papers describe innovative tools and prototypes that implement the results of research efforts. The tools and prototypes will be presented as demos in the Forum, accompanied by a poster. Both visionary papers and demo papers must not exceed 8 pages in LNCS format. Authors should consult Springer's authors guidelines and use their LaTeX or Word proceedings templates for the preparation of their papers. Springer encourages authors to include their ORCIDs in their papers. In addition, the corresponding author of each paper, acting on behalf of all of the authors of that paper, must complete and sign a Consent-to-Publish form. The corresponding author signing the copyright form should match the corresponding author marked on the paper. Once the files have been sent to Springer, changes relating to the authorship of the papers cannot be made. DEMO PAPERS The demo track is intended to provide a forum to showcase innovative implementations, systems and technologies demonstrating new ideas about interactive visual interfaces. We are looking for implementations of novel and exciting concepts or systems related to the main topics of AVI. We are especially keen to welcome innovative demonstrations from industry and startups that are closely aligned with the conference core themes. The goals of the Doctoral Consortium are to ensure that participating PhD students: • receive constructive and personalized feedback and advice on their research program by dedicated Doctoral Consortium mentors, • provide an opportunity to meet, interact with and learn from established researchers and practitioners in the Information Systems Engineering community, • develop a supportive community of peer scholars and a spirit of collaborative research, • discuss broader opportunities and concerns related to a PhD study and post-PhD pathways. To be eligible for the Doctoral Consortium, the candidate must be a current PhD student within a recognized research institution. We welcome submissions of both late-stage PhD students (having at least 6 months of work after the conference and before their expected completion), and early-stage PhD students (with at least 6 months of work already performed prior to the submission date). WHY SUBMITTING TO THE CAiSE'24 DOCTORAL CONSORTIUM? The CAiSE'24 Doctoral Consortium will be attended by renowned academics from the Information Systems Engineering field who will actively participate as mentors for the PhD students accepted to the Doctoral Consortium. The participating PhD students will receive constructive reviews on their submission, as well as personalized guidance by Doctoral Consortium mentors regarding their research program and presentation at the Consortium event. Accepted papers will be published in the CEUR proceedings (https://ceur-ws.org/), which are indexed in DBLP. Participants of the CAiSE Doctoral Consortium will be subsequently eligible to submit their PhD thesis (after the degree is granted) for a CAiSE PhD Award. SUBMISSION PROCESS Submissions must be made electronically by the stated deadline via the EasyChair conference system at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=caise2024 . Each submission should contain (i) a recommendation letter from the student’s PhD advisor, and (ii) a paper describing the research plans and the current status of progress (see more details in the Paper Submission Guidelines section). Submissions must have a single author, but the name of the PhD advisors should be mentioned in the paper (usually in the Acknowledgments section). Submissions should concern original research. All submitted materials must be in English. Attendees must have sufficient proficiency in English for being allowed to participate in the academic discussions of the Consortium. Submissions of both early and late-stage PhD students are welcome. Submissions of early-stage PhD students should concentrate on the selection of the research methods to apply, the realization and contextualization of the relevant literature, the expected pitfalls and ways to mitigate them. Submissions of late-stage PhD students should also include preliminary research results and discuss to some extent conclusions and threats. The recommendation letter from the PhD advisor should include an assessment of the current status of the research, an expected date for the completion of the dissertation, a delineation of the anticipated benefits for the student's participation at the Consortium and details of any submissions associated with the research. PAPER CONTENT AND FORMAT The paper must: • clearly formulate the research questions investigated in the thesis, • identify a significant problem in the field of Information System Engineering, • outline the current status of the problem domain and related solutions, • describe the research methods that are applied or proposed and the expected artifacts, • outline the contributions of the applicant’s work to the problem domain and highlight their uniqueness, • present any preliminary results achieved so far (mainly relevant for late-stage PhD students), • conform to the CEURART template using the 1-column layout format (thus, NOT the Springer LNCS format and NOT in multiple column layouts); the most recent template (including Word and LaTeX) can be downloaded from http://ceur-ws.org/Vol-XXX/index.html, • contain up to 4,000 words (including everything, e.g., references, tables, figures). REVIEW PROCESS Each submission will be reviewed by two members of the Doctoral Consortium Mentoring Board. The main evaluation criteria are: relevance, originality, significance, technical soundness, accuracy, clarity and the expected benefits to the student from participating in the Doctoral Consortium. Acceptance is based on the review outcomes. ATTENDANCE AND REGISTRATION FEE The Doctoral Consortium is held in parallel with the main CAiSE conference on 5-7 June 2024. The presentations and decisions are expected to take place in person, so attendance in the entire Doctoral Consortium is required. To facilitate detailed feedback to the participants, attendance to the Doctoral Consortium is by invitation only, limited to the participants and the Mentoring Board. There is no separate registration fee for participants in the Doctoral Consortium. Participants should register to the main conference by selecting either the “Main conference” option or another option that includes the main conference. Abstract and Topics Following the successful series of PATCH workshops, PATCH 2024 will be again the meeting point between state-of-the-art cultural heritage research and personalization – using any kind of technology, while focusing on ubiquitous and adaptive scenarios, to enhance the personal experience in cultural heritage sites. The workshop is aimed at bringing together, physically and/or virtually, researchers and practitioners who are working on various aspects of cultural heritage and are interested in exploring the potential of state of the art mobile technology (onsite as well as online) to enhance the CH visit experience. The expected result of the workshop is a sharing and discussing novel ideas and creating a multidisciplinary research agenda that will inform future research directions and hopefully, forge some research collaborations. Motivation Cultural heritage (CH) has traditionally been a privileged area for personalization research, as highlighted by the many H2020 calls on this topic. Visitors come to cultural heritage sites willing to experience and learn new things, usually without a clear idea of what to expect. CH sites are typically rich in objects and information; much more than the visitor can absorb during the limited time of a visit. Cultural Heritage exploration and fruition are central aspects to value the richness of the territory and the history of our countries. The research on this topic is very active and continuously expanding towards new topics, such as the integration of cultural and natural heritage exploration, the extension to novel interaction means (e.g., haptic user interfaces and IoT), ambient intelligence, etc. We invite cultural heritage professionals and researchers to join us to discuss findings and trends on personalisation of cultural heritage in the broadest sense, from online and remote cultural access to onsite visit, from individuals to groups, from tangible to virtual and robotic mediation. Inside the metaverse, virtual worlds will allow avatars to carry out all human endeavours, including creation, display, entertainment, social, and trading. Thus, the metaverse will evolve how users interact with brands, intellectual properties, health services, cultural heritage, and each other things on the Internet. A user could join friends to play a multiplayer game, watch a movie via a streaming service and then attend a university course precisely the same as in the real world. The metaverse development will require new software architecture that will enable decentralized and collaborative virtual worlds. These self-organized virtual worlds will be permanent and will require maintenance operations. In addition, it will be necessary to design an efficient data management system and prevent privacy violations. Finally, the convergence of physical reality, virtually enhanced, and an always-on virtual space highlighted the need to rethink the actual paradigms for visualization, interaction, and sharing of digital information, moving toward more natural, intuitive, dynamically customizable, multimodal, and multi-user solutions. This special session aims to focus on exploring how the realization of the metaverse can transform certain application domains such us: (i) healthcare, in which the metaverse solutions can, for instance, improve the communication between patients and physicians; (ii) cultural heritage, with potentially more effective solutions for tourism guidance, site maintenance, and heritage object conservation; and (iii) industry, where to enable data-driven decision making, smart maintenance, and overall asset optimisation. Call for Special Tracks Proposals - ACM GoodIT 2024

ACM GOODIT Conference Call for Special Tracks Proposals 4-6 September 2024, Bremen, Germany https://blogs.uni-bremen.de/goodit2024/ Scope GoodIT 2024 will feature special tracks whose aim is to focus on a specific topic of interest related to the overall scope of the conference. We solicit proposals for special tracks to be held within the main conference and whose publications will be included in conference proceedings. Tracks proposals can focus on any contemporary themes that highlight social good aspects in the design, implementation, deployment, securing, and evaluation of IT technologies. Special Track Proposal Format A special track proposal must contain the following information: Title of the special track The names of the organizers (indicatively, two) with affiliations, contact information, and a single paragraph of a brief bio. A short description of the scope and topics of the track (max 1/2 page) and a brief explanation of: (1) why the topic is timely and important; (2) why the topic is related to the conference’s main theme; (3) why the track may attract a significant number of submissions of good quality. Indication if a journal special issue is associated with the track, possibly with information on the process of selecting papers. The plan to disseminate the call for papers of the special track for achieving a reasonable number of paper submissions (a list of emailing lists will help). An outline of the foreseen reviewing process to ensure the scientific quality of the accepted papers including a tentative list of program committee members. A draft call for papers (max 1 page). Selection of Special Tracks Accepted Special Tracks will be curated by the Special Track Chairs, possibly involving other members of the conference’s organizing committee, and possibly discussing details with the Track Proposers. Publication Papers submitted to each particular track have to satisfy the same criteria as for the main conference. They must be original works and must not have been previously published. They have to be peer-reviewed by the track’s Program Committee (at least three reviews per submitted paper are required). The final version of papers must follow the formatting instructions of the main conference. At least one of the authors of all accepted papers must register and present the work at the conference on site; otherwise, the paper will not be published in the proceedings. All accepted and presented papers will be included in the conference proceedings published in ACM Digital Library. The special track may provide an option for publishing the extended versions of selected papers in a special issue of a journal. Special Track Proposal Submission Guidelines The proposal should be submitted as a single PDF file to the special track chairs (see below) via email to: ombretta.gaggi(a)unipd.it and jochen.meyer(a)offis.de.
