Dear all,

Thank you for your quick and mostly positive reactions. I'll relay your response to Ilaria and Francesco.

@Michele, Rocco, Mirko, Simon: Indeed the members of the SC and the PC are strongly invited to contribute with the submission of a paper to Coordination and/or DisCoTec next year. I'll refer this also to Ilaria and Francesco so they can add this in their message to the invitation for PC members. Of course, all of us should also sollicit other people in the community to submit too.

@Simon: I'll send your explanation on the tolerance of 10% of the paper length at the time of submission. I would make it subject to asking motivated permission to the PC Chairs so that the latter are made aware of the situation.

I do not want to insist and would be fine with just keeping the classical approach of a 15-page limit. However, if we do go the way I am suggesting, it is counterproductive to put additional constraints on the process.

To simplify — although I bet more people might recognise themselves than would be willing to admit it — imagine it's two hours to the deadline and you've already spent the night polishing the paper. It is now perfectly clear but is 16 pages long. What do you do?

1) cut out the examples to fit into 15 pages

2) write an e-mail to the PC chairs and hope that they see it in time

3) submit and go rest because COORDINATION is a cool conference and the PC understands that clarity is more important than page count

I vote for 3.

Cheers,

Simon

I'm aware of the fact that not all members of the SC can be part of the PC. In the future, some form of rotation could be useful in this respect.

All the best,
