Dear Mieke, Dear All,
The document its fine with me. I do agree with Simon that the role of Artefact Evaluation should be stressed a bit more and solicited since the very beginning (not just after the acceptance).
With best wishes,ML
P.S. In the document both “Artefact” and “Artifact” are used. I suggest to use only one of the two.

I have read the document and it looks very nice to me. In addition to Maurice's comment about the special issue, I would like to mention two other points:
- The document suggests that PC chairs are responsible for solliciting, e.g., IFIP sponsorship. However, in practice, I believe this is done on the DisCoTec SC level or by the General Chair.
- Unless I missed this mentioned in the document, I would suggest to state explicitly that PC chairs shall bring to the attention of all authors that, in case of acceptance, they would have an opportunity to submit an artefact. I do believe that, in the past, some authors did not realise that on their own and had to rush — or maybe even failed to submit — their artefacts, which they could have done otherwise.
All the best,
Simon

@Maurice: Thanks for taking a look. Good point, I'll add this too as a suggestion to the PC Chairs.

Dear Mieke, all,
sorry for my long silence, but I read the guidelines and they look good! I have just one question: should there not be any mention of a special issue? If not mandatory, maybe the PC chairs should at least be stimulated to organise a special issue in a reputable journal (LMCS, JLAMP, ..?) with the best papers of the conference. Likewise, Elsevier has sponsored the best tool paper also because of a special issue in their Original Software Publications track, which is also something worthwhile continuing!
See the Special Issue on Selected Software Artifacts of DisCoTec 2022: https://www.sciencedirect.com/journal/science-of-computer-programming/special-issue/10CVGJGQP0Z
My 2 cents,
Maurice

Dear All,
I hope you all had a good summer.
During the last SC meeting in Lisbon we have discussed issues about how to deal with artifacts. It was proposed to include instructions on this aspect in the Coordination Guidelines document that will be send to the new PC Chairs for every future edition of Coordination.
I would like to thank Sung-Shik Jongmans and Alceste Scalas (receiving in cc) for their precious input and suggestions for the instructions on dealing with artefacts and related commissions.
Furthermore, it was felt that also some guidelines were needed on how to deal with the selection of Coordination Best papers, which are now also included.
Please find the updated Guidelines Document attached to this email. The new parts are highlighted in yellow.
Please let me know about any observations asap, but not later than Sept 6.
After that date I'll send the (updated) Guidelines Document to the PC Chairs for Coordination 2024 so that they can start preparations in time.
Many thanks!
Mieke
