The EUSSET Conference on Computer-Supported Cooperative Work is an international venue on practice-centred computing and the design of cooperation technologies.
ECSCW is a single-track conference that contributes to developing an interdisciplinary and global community, supported by EUSSET, the European Society for Socially Embedded Technologies.
The conference format facilitates critical discussion across disciplinary and national borders in the field.
Call for submissions
The 23rd edition of ECSCW will take place in Newcastle upon Tyne from June 30th to July 4th, 2025.
We invite researchers and practitioners to submit Contributions to the EUSSET CSCW 2025 for the following tracks:

ECSCW 2025 Tracks
Conference Papers
Authors have the opportunity to publish concise and focused empirical or conceptual studies to support progress in a specific sub-domain of CSCW.
Submission could present a pointed insight from your fieldwork, a compact argument to make, or an insightful experience from designing, implementing, or sustaining a system for collaboration. Submissions could include, but is not limited to, the following:
- A new methodology for designing or examining CSCW technologies
- Insights from the implementation of an IT system supporting collaboration
- First experiences and insights from the use of a new system supporting collaboration
- A case study of collaborative technology in a domain not typically studied in CSCW research
- A discussion or unfolding of new CSCW theory

Exploratory Papers
Exploratory paper submissions are smaller, focused studies, works-in-progress, or design probes, based on provocative ideas that explore a topic in new and innovative ways. Exploratory papers aim at inspiring discussion towards the shaping the future of practice-focused and impact-oriented CSCW research. The presentation of these papers at the conference will utilize an alternative format to encourage conversation and feedback.
This year we are particularly keen to encourage submissions that address the impact of civic and community technologies.

Demos and Posters
We invite submissions that present preliminary research results and disseminate novel ideas to conference visitors. Posters also offer the space to discuss potential collaborations and the emergent issues in CSCW in an informal manner with the larger EUSSET CSCW community. We particularly invite submissions that introduce speculative or provocative ideas that challenge existing epistemologies and methodologies.

Panels
Panels aim to highlight emerging and innovative topics in the CSCWC field. Panels bring together a diverse range of voices and act as a vital medium to discuss emerging topics and research agendas, and debate issues that may not yet become fully recognized, acknowledged, or discussed.

Masterclasses
Masterclasses facilitate discussion on any CSCW related topic and enable organizers to elaborate on theoretical foundations in the form of lectures as well as engage participants in hands-on learning experiences. We also encourage proposals that address computing’s impact on societal issues and/or the ECSCW communities broad interest in theories, methods, and approaches from other disciplines interested in working across society and computing.

Workshops
We invite workshop proposals addressing research questions, new methodologies and approaches, innovative technologies, and emerging research areas with a special focus on sustainability. We also encourage proposals that address computing’s impact on societal issues and/or the ECSCW communities’ broad interest in theories, methods, and approaches from other disciplines interested in working across societies and computing.

Doctoral Colloquium
We invite candidates working broadly in the field of CSCW to apply. Candidates at any stage of the PhD process will be considered. However, the strongest candidates will be those who have a well-developed research proposal and have made some progress towards realising it, while still having time to benefit from advice and feedback by peers and senior colleagues.
DC attendees will have the opportunity:
- To present their research during the main conference by means of alternative formats, such as a madness session and/or posters, to gain extra visibility and encourage conversation and feedback.
- To attend, free of charge, a one-day program of Masterclasses (dates and availability to be confirmed).
