Dear Colleagues,
Please accept our apologies if you receive multiple copies of this message.
We are pleased to announce that the bidding process to host ACM UMAP 2028, the ACM Conference on User Modeling, Adaptation, and Personalization is now open.
UMAP is a CORE Rank A conference and the flagship ACM venue in user modeling, personalization, and adaptive systems. The conference typically attracts around 200 international participants from academia and industry.
For 2028, we particularly encourage proposals from Europe, although bids from all regions will be considered.
Expression of Interest
If you are interested in organizing and hosting UMAP 2028, please contact:
Cristina Gena (cristina.gena@unito.it)
Ludovico Boratto (ludovico.boratto@unica.it)
We will provide the official bid guidelines and detailed information about the process.
Financial Framework
ACM assumes the overall financial responsibility for the conference. However, the bid must include a detailed budget and organizational plan. For this reason, preparations should begin well in advance (approximately two years before the conference date).
Both ACM and User Modeling Inc. provide limited support for PhD student participation. We strongly encourage prospective hosts to seek additional sponsorship to ensure broad and inclusive student attendance.
Support from User Modeling Inc.
User Modeling Inc. works closely with the selected organizers throughout the process. This includes collaboration on:
selection of General and Program Chairs,
key organizational roles,
conference dates and structure,
overall coordination with ACM.
Submission Deadline
Bids should be submitted via email to Cristina Gena (President, User Modeling Inc.) and Ludovico Boratto (Vice President, User Modeling Inc.) by April 30, 2026.
We look forward to receiving your proposals.
Kind regards,
Ludovico Boratto
Vice President, User Modeling Inc.
