SCOPE and MOTIVATION
Prospective authors are invited to submit Work-in-Progress (WiP) papers related to all areas of consumer communications and networking that summarize speculative breakthroughs, industry-featured projects, open problems, new application challenges, visionary ideas, and preliminary studies or recent achievements that are not quite ready for a regular full-length paper. WiP papers are welcomed in all areas of consumer communications and networking.
All Work-in-Progress papers should be submitted via EDAS, and please make sure to follow the Submission Guidelines. All submissions should be written in English with a maximum paper length of four pages (10-point font) including figures. Accepted WiP papers will be published in the IEEE CCNC 2026 Conference Proceedings and submitted to IEEE Xplore® as well as other Abstracting and Indexing (A&I) databases.

Does Artificial Intelligence (AI) make Participatory Design (PD)
obsolete? AI systems are deployed rapidly across domains of considerable
social significance—in healthcare, education, employment, criminal
justice, and many others—without appropriate safeguards or
accountability structures in place. At the same time, there is a growing
interest in using participatory approaches for the design, development,
and evaluation of AI systems across industries, academia and the public
sector. Researchers have started to explore different aspects of AI
tools for co-creation in PD and different co-creation processes for the
design of AI-based solutions. In this special issue, we aim to collect
and share explorations with and about AI in PD to create a better
understanding of the challenges and opportunities for co-designing
future ethical, responsible, and explainable AI solutions.
Early PD projects were motivated by the introduction of computer
technologies into industrial workplaces, where they threatened to
impoverish or take over jobs. Just like computers were a threat to work
and workers in the 1970s and 80s, AI seems to be a threat to workers—and
societies—today. This is an argument for using a PD approach aimed at
understanding the technology and its potential for changing workplaces
and work practices, as well as to open up for workers to have a say in
choices concerning the technology during its design and use. We see two
different combinations of AI and PD: a) the use of AI tools in PD for
design inspiration or co-ideation, and b) using PD activities to
collaboratively envision digital futures with AI. Can PD help to
understand AI and its potential for changing our lives? Bratteteig and
Verne argue that PD is well suited for users and designers working
together to negotiate and mitigate the challenges AI poses to our
digitalized societies. However, they argue that PD researchers need to
navigate through three challenges: understanding AI technology,
evaluating AI solutions, and distinguishing between “normal use” and
training of AI services. Voinov and Bousquet propose participatory
modeling as a purposeful learning process for action that engages the
implicit and explicit knowledge of stakeholders to create formalized and
shared representation(s) of reality.
As a step towards broadening the discussion about AI and PD, our
proposal seeks to extend a warm invitation to researchers and
professionals worldwide who are exploring the intersection of PD and AI,
including both aspects of mutual learning and co-designing. This special
issue is also an extension of a workshop that took place at NORDICHI
2024. The purpose of this special issue, therefore, in addition to
collecting contributions from those who participated in the workshop, is
to broaden the discussion to include scholars and practitioners who are
engaged in the discourse about AI and PD and who would like to
contribute with and share their own visions.

The ACM Conference on Intelligent User Interfaces (ACM IUI) is the annual premier venue
where researchers and practitioners meet and discuss state-of-the-art advances at the
intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). Ideal IUI
submissions should address practical HCI challenges using machine intelligence and
discuss both computational and human-centric aspects of such methodologies,
techniques, and systems.
This area is crucial as AI is increasingly integrated into everyday technology.
Understanding and shaping AI systems for human needs is essential to ensure that AI
systems are effective and responsible. As these techniques become increasingly powerful,
new use cases and human-AI interactions can be explored. This conference offers an
opportunity to focus the research community on important problems at the intersection of
AI and HCI and bring together experts from various disciplines to discuss and build on
these ideas in workshops, breaks, and networking sessions.

Papers
We invite original paper submissions that are not under consideration elsewhere. Accepted
papers will appear in the ACM Digital Library and citation indices. At least one author of all
accepted papers must register with full registration fee (not student registration fee),
attend in person, and present their paper during the main conference program. One
registration covers one paper only.
A selected set of accepted top-quality full papers will be invited to submit their extended
versions for publication in an ACM Transactions on Interactive Intelligent Systems (TiiS)
special issue titled “Highlights of IUI 2026” that will appear in 2027.
Reflection of practical and societal impact
We encourage authors to consider practical and societal implications of their work (as well
as its shortcomings) throughout their projects and to include a reflection on those
implications in their papers, in particular how the proposed methods and insights could be
applied and deployed in a realistic setting and how they can improve people's lives in the
real world.
We also encourage authors to discuss potential ethical considerations of their work in
terms of diversity, inclusion, and equality; and other topics under the broad responsible AI
topic and its societal impact. We recognize that technology is rarely neutral --- simply by
making some things easier than others, it reshapes society (Winner, 1980; Green, 2020).
Further, given the incredibly short invention-to-application cycles for AI-related
technologies, it is becoming increasingly unlikely that “somebody else” will carefully
consider how an emerging intelligent user interface technology might impact the world
before this technology is deployed. Our purpose is to help authors ensure that the likely
societal consequences of their work are consistent with their intentions and values. For
colleagues who are not yet experienced with incorporating societal impacts into their IUI
research but who are willing to give it a try, here are some ideas to consider.
Anonymization
ACM IUI uses a double-blind review process. All submissions (and supplemental materials)
must be appropriately anonymized according to the following guidelines:
• Authors' names and affiliations are not visible anywhere in the paper.
• Acknowledgements should be anonymized or removed during the review process.
• Self-citations should be included where necessary but must use the third person. For
example, "... as shown in our previous user study [2] ... " is not allowed, whereas "... as
shown in Smith et al. [2] " is acceptable (because in this case the citation [2] will NOT be
perceived as self-citation).
Failure to follow these guidelines may result in submissions being desk-rejected without review.
Accessibility
Authors are asked to make their paper submissions accessible (so that reviewers with
vision impairments can access them, for example). The authors of accepted papers will be
required to make their final PDFs accessible. Please use the SIGCHI Guide to an Accessible
Submission for detailed instructions.

described in Technical Requirements and Guidelines for Videos.

Usage of Generative AI
All submissions must comply with the ACM policy on the usage of GenAI: the April 2023
ACM Policy on Authorship and Frequently Asked Questions. Text generated from a
large-scale language model (LLM), such as ChatGPT, must be clearly marked where such
tools are used for purposes beyond editing the author’s own text. Authors should include
a “GenAI Usage Disclosure” section, right before the references, to provide full disclosure
of all use of GenAI tools in all stages of the research (including the code and data) and the
writing. This section, together with the references, will not be counted toward the word
limit.
While we do not anticipate using tools on a large scale to detect LLM-generated text, we
will investigate submissions brought to our attention and desk reject papers where LLM
use is not clearly marked.
Research Involving Human Participants and Subjects
Any research in submitted manuscripts that involves human subjects must go through the
appropriate ethics review requirements that apply to the authors’ research environment.
As research environments vary considerably with regard to their requirements, authors are
asked to submit a short note to reviewers that provides this context. Please also see the
2021 ACM Publications policy on research involving human participants and subjects
before submitting.

Submission Format, Length, and Platform
We adopt the ACM TAPS Workflow.
Please prepare your submission for review in a single column format, using the latest
templates: Word Submission Template, or the LaTeX template using
\documentclass[manuscript,review,anonymous]{acmart} for the LaTeX template.
Papers are of variable length. Paper length must be proportional to its contribution. We
encourage authors to stay within a 10,000 word limit. Authors of papers exceeding 12,000
words should add a note at the end of their manuscript explaining how the length of the
paper is commensurate with the contribution of the work.
Submission Platform
All materials must be submitted electronically to the Precision Conference Submission
(PCS) Portal (https://new.precisionconference.com/) by the abstract and paper deadlines.
In PCS, first click “Submissions” at the top of the page, from the dropdown menus for
Society, Conference, and Track, please select “SIGCHI”, “IUI 2026”, and “IUI 2026 Papers”,
respectively, and then press “Go”.
Note: If the corresponding author (the individual who submits the paper, not necessarily
the first author) is affiliated with a participating institution that has an open access
agreement with ACM, the Article Processing Charges (APCs) will be waived for publishing
the paper. Details are under “Publication and Open Access”.
Supplemental Materials
Submitting supplemental material (e.g., questionnaires, demo videos of applications, data
sheets) is optional but encouraged.
If supplying a demo video, please follow the SIGCHI Technical Requirements and
Guidelines for videos.
Publication and Open Access
The official publication date is the date the proceedings are made available in the ACM
Digital Library. This date may be up to two weeks prior to the first day of the conference.
The official publication date affects the deadline for any patent filings related to published
work.
Starting January 1, 2026, ACM will fully transition to Open Access. All ACM publications,
including those from ACM-sponsored conferences, will be 100% Open Access. Authors will
have two primary options for publishing Open Access articles with ACM: the ACM Open
institutional model or by paying Article Processing Charges (APCs). With over 1,800
institutions already part of ACM Open, the majority of ACM-sponsored conference papers
will not require APCs from authors or conferences (currently, around 70-75%).
Authors from institutions not participating in ACM Open will need to pay an APC to publish
their papers, unless they qualify for a financial or discretionary waiver. To find out whether
an APC applies to your article, please consult the list of participating institutions in ACM
Open and review the APC Waivers and Discounts Policy. Keep in mind that waivers are rare
and are granted based on specific criteria set by ACM.
Understanding that this change could present financial challenges, ACM has approved a
temporary subsidy for 2026 to ease the transition and allow more time for institutions to join
ACM Open. The subsidy will offer:
* $250 APC for ACM/SIG members
* $350 for non-members
This represents a 65% discount, funded directly by ACM. Authors are encouraged to help
advocate for their institutions to join ACM Open during this transition period.
This temporary subsidized pricing will apply to all conferences scheduled for 2026.

The AAAI Track welcomes AAAI-25 submissions rejected from the main AAAI track that
are relevant to the AAMAS research community and received no reject review
recommendations (all review scores are weak reject or above).
The JAAMAS Track offers authors of papers recently published in the Journal of
Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems (JAAMAS) that have not previously appeared
as full papers in an archival conference the opportunity to present their work at AAMAS
2026.
The focus of the Blue Sky Ideas Track is on visionary ideas, long-term challenges, new
research opportunities, and controversial debate.
The Demo Track allows participants from both academia and industry to showcase their
latest developments in agent-based and robotic systems.
The Competitions Track is an effective mechanism for motivating researchers to enhance
discussions, share knowledge, and boost the development and evaluation of theory and
practice of autonomous agents and multiagent systems.
Finally, AAMAS invites PhD students working in the research areas covered by AAMAS to
take part in the Doctoral Consortium (DC). The DC is an opportunity to interact closely
with established researchers in your field as well as other PhD students to receive feedback
on your work and to get advice on managing your career.

Workshops and Tutorials
Furthermore, AAMAS 2026 invites proposals for workshops and tutorials. These will be
held on May 25-26, 2026, immediately before the main program of the AAMAS conference.
The objectives of the AAMAS 2026 workshop program are to stimulate and facilitate
discussion, interaction, and comparison of approaches, methods, and ideas related to
specific topics, both theoretical and applied, in the general area of Autonomous Agents
and Multiagent Systems. The AAMAS 2026 workshops will provide an informal setting
where participants will have the opportunity to discuss specific technical topics, fostering
the active exchange of ideas and supporting community development.
Tutorials will be half-day long and will be in person — online/remote versions will not be
accepted. A few full-day tutorials may be considered, but the proponents need to motivate
their request when submitting their proposal.

Prospective authors are expected to submit their contributions to the general track or one

Submission Guidelines
Papers must be submitted electronically using the EasyChair conference management
system (see link below). All submissions will be peer-reviewed at least by two Program
Committee members. All accepted papers (Regular, Short, and Posters) will be included in
the conference proceedings and will be published by IEEE Xplore. Publication in
proceedings is conditioned to the registration and presentation of the paper at the
conference by one of the authors.
Type of Submissions
Each contribution must be prepared following the IEEE two-column format, whose
template is available at https://www.ieee.org/conferences/publishing/templates .
The authors may choose LaTeX or Microsoft Word templates. CBMS 2026 accepts three
types of submissions:
• Regular papers: The length of the contribution is limited to 6 pages, but it is possible
to extend the paper length up to 8 pages by paying for each extra page. Check fees for
more information.
• Short papers: The length of the contribution is limited to 4 pages and no less than 3
pages, not being possible to extend the paper length. The duration of the oral
presentation of short posters will be less than regular ones.
• Posters: The length of the contribution is limited to 2 pages. Poster papers will be
included in the proceedings but won’t include oral presentations during the conference.
The authors of a poster also need to prepare a real poster to be shown during the
conference. For presentation purposes at the conference, the authors must prepare the
poster in portrait format. The accepted dimensions are 60 (width) x 80 (length).
CALL FOR SPECIAL TRACKS
IEEE CBMS 2026 invites proposals for organization of special tracks that will be held in
parallel with the general conference track. The themes of the special tracks should not
overlap with the general conference topics and should focus on emerging research fields.
All tracks are expected to enable stimulating discussions of state-of-the-art, emerging,
visionary, and perhaps controversial topics. Their papers should report on significant
unpublished work and must meet the same standards as main conference papers. All
accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings. We expect all accepted
tracks to adhere to the conference paper submission and reviewing schedule, as outlined
in the dates indicated below.
Special Tracks chair(s) will be interacting with organisers of accepted workshops to ensure
a high-quality workshop program. In the case of detecting several similar submissions, the
CBMS 2026 organization can propose the fusion of those proposals.
Special Track Requirements
The organizers of a special track must comply with a set of principles and obligations,
listed below:
• A specific webpage with information about the special track will be created by CBMS
after the acceptance notification. The organizers must provide the following information to
be added to such webpage: special track description, list of topics, call for papers,
submission information (must be the same as CBMS 2026 regular track), special track
organizers, special track program committee members, any other relevant information.
• The organizers of the special track are responsible for the peer-review process within
their track. They must add their own Program Committee members/reviewers to the
submission platform, ensure that receive all the reviews on time, check the quality of the
reviews, and establish the acceptance/rejection decision. The final decision will be sent by
CBMS 2026 PC Chairs. They also must pay special attention to potential conflicts of
interest and ensure that all the general ethical rules of research are followed.
• At least one of the organizers of the special track must register and attend CBMS 2026
in Limassol, Cyprus. The organizer(s) who attend CBMS will also chair the specific session
that will be assigned in the agenda to their track.
• The organizers of the special track are responsible for the publicity of their track to try
to win as many submissions as possible. Please bear in mind that a special track with less
than 4 accepted papers could be canceled. In this case, the accepted papers will be moved
to the regular track.
Submission Guidelines
Each proposal must include:
• Special track title
• Rough estimate of the expected ST size as number of sessions (with 4-5 papers per
session)
• A brief biography of ST organizer(s)
• List of Special Track Program Committee members
• A draft of Special Track “Call for Papers” (important dates must be the same of the
main conference)
• One or two appropriate journals or follow up publications: tracks are expected to
organize a special issue, if planned.

CALL FOR SHOWCASE / RESEARCH PROJECTS
CBMS 2026 will have a special showcase/research projects track session, where we invite
(a) scientific papers, (b) demonstrations/posters and (c) research-projects descriptions.
Scientific papers: We invite papers (not exceeding 6 pages in length), describing innovative
computer-based medical devices or software applications, including practical experiences
with such innovations. The papers should be scholarly articles presenting scientific
methods, measurements, and experiments. Marketing and sales materials will not be
accepted. These papers will be evaluated based on practicality, innovation, scientific rigor,
value of the device or application to users, and novelty. They will be published in the
proceedings of the conference along with the other papers under this track.
Examples of such papers could include but are not limited to:
• Computer-based medical devices that have technical/scientific novelty
• Computer-based medical applications intended for or recently introduced in the field
• Novel uses of traditional equipment in practice
• Experience papers based on use and data from the field
• Insightful measurement-based analysis of computer-based medical systems from the
field
• Novel analysis providing new insights from data collected from the field
• New and practical data analytics useful in practice
• Real deployments of AI solutions in medicine
Demonstrations: A demonstration is more appropriate if the value can be better expressed
with a demonstration rather than in a full-length paper. The topics for the demonstration
papers are the same as the scientific for this track. Please submit a proposal of your
demonstration with a limit of two pages.
Research projects/initiatives: CBMS aims in this edition to receive submissions about
research or innovation projects funded by, mainly, competitive calls to present their
project. We foresee to receive submissions which include details about the project goals,
consortium and results (expected and any tentative result obtained so far). Only projects
funded by competitive calls or with strong potential interest for the community will be
considered. International projects organized in a consortium of several countries will have
preference.
Submissions in this context should be a one/two-pages document with at least the
following information:
• Project/initiative title
• Description
• Participant entities
• Project goals
• Funding agency (when applies) or agencies
• Results obtained so far (publications, patents, ...)
The contribution must be prepared following the regular paper. The length of the
contribution must be between 4 and 6 pages.

addressing, any preliminary results, and their future plans. The DC will offer them an
opportunity to discuss any problems that they have come up against, and gain valuable
advice and constructive feedback from experienced researchers in the field.The Doctoral
Consortium will involve presentations by participating PhD students (selected by the
Doctoral Consortium chairs) as well as a number of invited talks / tutorials on different
related topics in the field.
Submissions
Doctoral Consortium submissions should focus specifically on a PhD thesis or subsection
of a thesis. To apply for participation at CBMS 2026 Doctoral Consortium, please submit a
research plan on a topic related to the areas covered in the general call for papers for the
conference. Each submission should be in the same format as the main conference papers
except it should consist of approximately 3-5 pages describing your research work.
In particular:
• Title and author
• The research problem that your PhD addresses
• Your planned approach and methods for solving the problem
• How your approach compares to other known approaches
• Any preliminary results or expected results
• Future plans and directions with specific questions

Extended Reality (XR) technologies, including Virtual Reality (VR),

EICS 2026 is the eighteenth international ACM SIGCHI conference devoted to
engineering interactive computing systems and their user interfaces,
addressing one or more software quality factors, such as usability, user
experience, reliability, security, etc. Work presented at EICS covers all
stages of the engineering life-cycle of interactive systems - inception,
requirements, design, specification, coding, data analytics, validation and
verification, deployment and maintenance.
EICS has the longest tradition of bringing together researchers who
contribute to better ways of creating interactive computing systems,
stemming from the conference on command languages in the seventies. The
conference is best known for rigorously contributing and disseminating
research results that hold the midst in between user interface design,
software engineering and computational interaction.
EICS focuses on models, languages, notations, methods, techniques and tools
that support designing, developing, validating and verifying interactive
systems. The conference brings together people who study or practice the
engineering of interactive systems, drawing from design, HCI, software
engineering, requirements engineering, software development, modeling, and
programming.

FULL PAPERS and TECHNICAL NOTES SUBMISSIONS
EICS Full Papers and Technical Notes are published as articles in the
Journal Proceedings of the ACM on Human-Computer Interaction (PACM - EICS
series). There are three submission deadlines per year, and authors can
choose when to submit. Papers follow the traditional journal model of
reviewing: papers may be accepted after submission and review, or may be
recommended for revisions and re-submission to the next round to enable
authors to refine papers based on reviewer recommendations.
Submissions for the journal of this venue should present original and mature
research work within the scope of the conference. Note that accepted journal
papers can be either regular research papers, or technical notes. Technical
Notes are shorter, more focused contributions, that focus specifically on
system contributions and technical work. Elucidating technical details of
complex interactive systems, preferably ensuring the work can be reproduced
or put to practice, is a primary objective of a Technical Note. Tech Notes
require an illustrative example of the system, and they can, but do not need
to, be validated by formal user evaluations or user studies. Validation can
also be done through e.g. simulation, feasibility, or comparisons. Tech
Notes will be judged on their technical merits and relevance to interactive
systems concerns.
There are no length restrictions on Full Papers and Technical Notes, nor any
limit to the number of references that may be included. We advise authors to
ensure the length of their papers is in function of the contributions.
Concise and clear is often to be preferred over lengthy and verbose.

Theme and Scope
Modern devices and technologies can represent a digital barrier for users with disabilities, but they can be exploited to become enabling tools for them. Accessibility of devices and technologies is a critical topic to allow inclusion of all users, especially due to the European laws that impose accessibility for new products and the definition of an updated version of WCAG (Web Accessibility Guidelines). This track invites scientists, engineers, and decision-makers from government, industry, and academia to present technical papers on their research and development results in areas of accessibility.
This track can interest many researchers since it would give the chance to face a wide range of topics, i.e., web or mobile technologies, with different points of view, taking into account specific technological constraints and digital barriers. It is well-known that the so-called “curb cut effect” can be applied to any technological and digital context (in terms of devices, content, and services): technologies that were originally meant to benefit people with disabilities can help any other users. Moreover, the history and the evolution of several technologies have been influenced and/or motivated by the special needs of people with disabilities.
This track will invite scientists, engineers, and decision-makers from government, industry, and academia to present technical papers on their research and development results in areas of accessibility, including but not limited to the following topics:
Accessible devices/assistive technologies: assistive technologies refer to all the assistive, adaptive, and rehabilitative devices for people with disabilities that enable users to perform tasks they were formerly unable to accomplish. On the one hand, the widespread diffusion of new devices and technologies stimulates researchers to find and apply new solutions to make them accessible to anyone. On the other hand, experiences in accessibility-related fields have been exploited and have provided benefits to users equipped with non-conventional devices when they emerged in the market.
Accessible solutions for e-learning, e-commerce, e-banking, etc: e-services and content often require specific technologies, being bounded by specific constraints when accessed by people with disabilities equipped with assistive technologies. Specific interaction modalities may affect interactive service access, while richness and quantity of content may affect the users’ ability to process information.
Accessible content: e-books, accessible TV, accessible broadcasting, etc.
Accessibility of games.
AI for Accessibility: AI can be exploited both for personalization (i.e., integrating AI-based personalization to support specific and special needs) and “enabler” (i.e., exploiting LLM to support the creation of accessible applications).
Submission Guidelines
We would like to invite authors to submit papers on research on the Accessibility area, with particular emphasis on assessing the current state of the art and identifying future directions. Original papers addressing any of the listed topics of interest (or related topics) will be considered. Each submitted paper will be fully refereed and undergo a double-blind review process by at least three referees. Accepted papers will be included in the ACM SAC 2026 proceedings and published in the ACM digital library, being indexed by Thomson ISI Web of Knowledge and Scopus. Submissions fall into the following categories:
Original and unpublished research work;
Reports of innovative computing applications in the arts, sciences, engineering, and business area;
Reports of successful technology transfer to new problem domains;
Reports of industrial experience and demos of new innovative systems.
The track accepts full papers (max 8 pages), posters (max 2 pages), and SRC abstracts (max 2 pages). Submissions should be properly anonymized to facilitate blind reviewing. Papers that will recevie high reviews (that is acceptable by reviewer standard) but will not be accepted due to space limitations can be invited for poster session. Authors of accepted papers must be prepared to sign a copyright statement and must pay the registration fee and guarantee that their paper will be presented at the conference. No-show of scheduled papers will result in excluding the papers from the ACM Digital Library.

Social applications, multimedia, and games play a substantial role in
shaping Internet traffic and have emerged as dominant mode of social
interaction online. This recent trend has sparked significant research
interests, both at the network level and in terms of application and
service development. Moreover, with the advent of the metaverse,
research focus within these domains has expanded to encompass virtual
worlds, immersive experiences, and social interactions in virtual
environments. Given their increasing prevalence and interdisciplinary
nature, social applications, multimedia, and games have also garnered
research attention across diverse fields, including big data analytics,
cloud computing, artificial intelligence, data sensing, information
security, and privacy protection.

MUM 2025, the 24th International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Multimedia, will be held in Enna, Italy, December 1st –4th. MUM is an interdisciplinary forum for advances in research of mobile and ubiquitous multimedia systems, applications, and services. At MUM, academics and practitioners discuss challenges and achievements in this field from diverse perspectives, such as interaction techniques, user research, system development, software solutions, and devices. This edition of MUM aims to continue the tradition of innovation and excellence in research established by previous MUM conferences.

SCOPE and MOTIVATION
Prospective authors are invited to submit Work-in-Progress (WiP) papers related to all areas of consumer communications and networking that summarize speculative breakthroughs, industry-featured projects, open problems, new application challenges, visionary ideas, and preliminary studies or recent achievements that are not quite ready for a regular full-length paper. WiP papers are welcomed in all areas of consumer communications and networking.
All Work-in-Progress papers should be submitted via EDAS, and please make sure to follow the Submission Guidelines. All submissions should be written in English with a maximum paper length of four pages (10-point font) including figures. Accepted WiP papers will be published in the IEEE CCNC 2026 Conference Proceedings and submitted to IEEE Xplore® as well as other Abstracting and Indexing (A&I) databases.

We are pleased to invite proposals for workshops and tutorials to be held in conjunction
with the 31st International ACM Conference on Intelligent User Interfaces (ACM IUI 2026),
Paphos, Cyprus.
Workshops aim to provide a venue for presenting research on emerging or specialized
topics of interest and to offer an informal forum for discussing research questions and
challenges. Potential workshop topics should be related to the general theme of the
conference (“Where HCI meets AI”).
Tutorials aim to provide fundamental knowledge and experience on topics related to
intelligent user interfaces and the intersection between Human-Computer Interaction (HCI)
and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
We welcome proposals for a wide range of *full-day* or *half-day* workshops and
*full-day*, *half-day* or *quarter-day* tutorial formats and activities, including but not
limited to:
• Mini Conferences: Workshops that focus on a specific topic and may have their own
paper submission and review processes.
• Interactive Formats: Workshops that encourage active participation and hands-on
experiences through break-out sessions or group work to explore specific topics. They
may have their own paper submission and review process or target a report summarizing
the discussions and outcomes.
• Emerging Work Sessions: Workshops that foster discussion around emerging ideas.
Organizers may raise specific topics and invite position papers, late-breaking results, or
extended abstracts.
• Project-Centric Formats: Workshops tied closely to a specific existing large-scale
funded project(e.g., NSF, EU) with the goal to engage a broader community.
• Interactive Competitions: Formats that invite individuals and teams to participate in
challenges or hackathons on selected topics relevant to IUI.
• Tutorials: Sessions that provide a structured instruction on topics aligned with the
conference theme, such as HCI methods, AI techniques, methodological frameworks, tools,
labs or hands-on experiences for building intelligent user interfaces.
Review and Oversight by Workshop and Tutorial Chairs
Proposals will be reviewed and evaluated by the Workshop and Tutorial Chairs. It is
possible that workshops may be cancelled, shortened, merged, or restructured if there are insufficient submissions.
Workshop and Tutorial summaries will be included in the ACM Digital Library for ACM IUI
2026. We will also publish joint workshop proceedings for accepted workshop submissions
(through CEUR or a similar venue).
Responsibilities of Workshop and Tutorial Organizers
• Coordinate the Call for Papers, including solicitation, submission handling, and peer
review process.
• Create and maintain a dedicated website with Workshop or Tutorial information. The IUI
Website 2026 will link to this page.
• Prepare and communicate Call for Participation, targeting both IUI and broader relevant
communities (e.g., via mailing lists, social media, newsgroups, or offline events)
• Facilitate the planned activities, including paper presentations, discussions, and/or
interactive elements.
• Submit a workshop or tutorial summary for inclusion in the ACM Digital Library.
• Collect camera-ready papers and author agreements from workshop participants for the
joint workshop proceedings (CEUR or similar).
Note that for the joint proceedings (CEUR or similar), submissions should be peer-reviewed
and will need to meet publishers’ guidelines. CEUR, for example, requires a 5-page
minimum per contribution. Note that not all workshop and tutorial formats listed above
may meet these requirements, and we may not be able to include them.
IUI 2026 is an in-person event, and we expect workshop organizers to attend, allowing the
workshop to be conducted on-site. One author per paper is expected to attend in person
to present the work.
Proposal Format
Workshop or tutorial proposals should be a maximum of four pages long (single-column
format). Prepare your submission using the latest templates: Word Submission Template
(https://authors.acm.org/binaries/content/assets/publications/taps/acm_submi…),
or the LaTex Template
(https://authors.acm.org/proceedings/production-information/preparing-your-a…).
For Latex, please use “\documentclass[manuscript,review]{acmart}”.
The proposals should be organized as follows:
• Name and title: A one-word acronym and a full title. Please indicate “(Workshop)” or
“(Tutorial)” after the title, as appropriate.
• Abstract: A brief summary of the workshop or tutorial.
• Description of workshop or tutorial topic: Should discuss the relevance of the
proposed topic to IUI and its interest for the IUI 2026 audience. Include a concise
discussion of why this workshop or tutorial is particularly relevant for the intended
audience and how it will complement and enhance topics covered at the main conference.
• Previous history: List of previous workshops or tutorials on this topic, including the
conferences that hosted them and the number of participants. If available, report on past
editions of the workshop (including URLs), along with a brief statement of the workshop
series (e.g., covering topics, number of paper submissions, and participants), as well as
post-workshop publications over the years and acceptance statistics. If this is the first
edition of the workshop, describe how it differs from others on similar topics (e.g., by
including conference names and years).
• Organizer(s): Names, affiliations, emails, and web pages of the organizer(s). Provide a
brief description of the background of the organizer(s). Strong proposals normally include
organizers who bring differing perspectives on the topic and are actively connected to the
communities of potential participants. Please indicate the primary contact person and the
organizers who will attend the workshop. Also, please provide a list of other workshops or
tutorials organized by workshop organizers in the past.
• Workshop program committee: Names and affiliation of the members of the (tentative)
workshop program committee that will evaluate the workshop submissions.
• Participants: Include a statement of how many participants you expect and how you plan
to invite participants for the workshop or tutorial. If possible, include the names of at least
10 people who have expressed interest in participating in the workshop or tutorial.
• Workshop or Tutorial activities: A brief description of the format regarding the mix of
events or activities, such as paper presentations, invited talks, panels, demonstrations,
teaching activities, hands-on practical exercises, and general discussion. Please also list
here any materials you will make available to tutorial participants, such as slides, access to
hardware or software, and handouts.
• Planned outcomes of the workshop or tutorial: What are you hoping to achieve by the
end of the workshop or tutorial? Please list here any planned publications or other
outcomes expected.
• Length: Full-day or half-day. For tutorials, we are also interested in quarter-day
proposals (roughly 1.5 hours).

Papers involving AI must either (a) concern a software system as a whole, or a subsystem, and
not simply its AI or ML component, (b) consider software engineering artifacts, (c) target a
novel context for a software engineering task, or (d) study human, social, socio-technical, and
organizational aspects in the development of AI-intensive software systems (see also “Scoping
Software Engineering for AI: The TSE Perspective”, 10.1109/TSE.2024.3470368). Other papers
may fit more AI- or ML-specialized venues instead.

All submitted papers will undergo a rigorous peer review process and will be selected based
on originality, quality, soundness, and relevance. Submissions must be original, not
published, accepted, or under review elsewhere. All submissions must be in PDF format and

extended versions of their manuscripts for a special issue featured by Springer’s Empirical
Software Engineering Journal (EMSE). The best papers from the conference will be awarded.
CALL FOR WORKSHOPS
In SANER 2026, we solicit proposals for workshops to be held in conjunction with the main
conference. Workshops can be full or half-day and should highlight a specific topic of interest
related to software analysis, evolution, and reengineering. We encourage workshop organizers
to include activities that provide their participants with a true workshop experience.
All workshops will tentatively be scheduled for the first day of the conference (March 17,
2026), the day before the main conference.

Proposal submission: By 20th August, 2025 AoE, the workshop proposal (in the form of call
for papers) should be submitted to the workshops EasyChair page:

Evaluation Criteria
The proposals will be evaluated by the workshops track chairs based on the novelty of the
workshop topic, its importance to the field, as well as the composition of the
organizing team.
Workshop PC and Submission System
No later than mid of September 2025, the workshop PC should have been finalized and the
paper submission system should be live. Workshop organizers are free to select EasyChair,
HotCRP or any other commonly used paper submission system.
The workshop proceedings will be included in a separate section of the conference’s
proceedings – the companion proceedings.
CALL FOR TUTORIALS
The SANER 2026 Workshops & Tutorials track invites practitioners and researchers to deliver
insightful tutorials on various topics related to Software Analysis, Evolution, and
Reengineering.
These tutorials aim to expand the community’s understanding of advanced software
engineering topics, valuable tools and technologies, as well as research methodologies.
We are soliciting abstracts with the intention of presenting a tutorial in the following categories:
1 - Technical Tutorial: Speakers present the use of a tool or technology that aids the
developers in Software Analysis, Evolution, and Reengineering.
2 - Research problem: Speakers provide a general view of the state-of-the-art for a topic
related to Software Analysis, Evolution, and Reengineering and further present details of a
specific research problem that still needs to be addressed by the community.
Submission Instructions
The proposal should not exceed one page (with up to one additional page for references) and
should outline the talk. Furthermore, it should follow the IEEE Conference Proceedings
Formatting Guidelines (title: 24pt, text: 10pt; LaTeX users: \documentclass[10pt,conference]
{IEEEtran}). All proposals must be submitted in PDF format through

We encourage the submission of original contributions, investigating how

Objectives
This workshop aims to explore how humans and AI systems can effectively collaborate, learn from each other, and co-adapt symbiotically. Through discussions and the exchange of perspectives, the workshop has the goal of investigating the key components of the interaction between the two parties. Participants will gain deeper insights into the implications of integrating AI into various aspects of daily life, facilitating problem-solving activities such as learning, decision-making, and co-creation.
The workshop will be structured as follows: after an initial introduction by the organizers concerning the topics and objectives, there will be presentations for each contribution (10 minutes circa), followed by questions from the other participants. At the end of the session, there will be a participatory activity, through which we will be able to exchange ideas, comments, and reflections concerning the best practices and challenges of Symbiotic Artificial Intelligence for Collaborative Learning Environments.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Recently, researchers have been examining the unforeseen issues caused by the excessive use of personal devices and online services, especially as companies increasingly employ "attention-capture" tactics like guilty-pleasure recommendations and automatic content playback. These strategies exploit users' psychological vulnerabilities, aiming to boost advertising revenue, resulting in tangible repercussions on users' perceived agency and often leading to a perceived lack of control over their technology use. These problems gave rise to a new kind of psychological "digital wellbeing," investigated in fields such as Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and psychology.
Traditional strategies employed by practitioners and researchers involve the creation of Digital Self-Control Tools (DSCTs), i.e., mobile applications and browser extensions that empower users to monitor their usage patterns and implement interventions, such as timers and lock-out mechanisms, to self-regulate device usage. Yet, researchers and the users themselves are starting to warn that achieving digital wellbeing is a path of personal growth that requires education more than self-monitoring strategies.
The objective of this workshop is to establish a venue for the academic and industrial communities to discuss ongoing research and ideas at the intersection of digital wellbeing and education, aiming to promote the development of strategies and tools to "teach" users – particularly children and teenagers – to use technology more meaningfully and consciously. This objective can be achieved in multiple ways, such as by creating novel DSCTs that include educational aspects, serious games, collaborative platforms to introduce and support digital wellbeing learning at school, or leveraging AI and, in particular, large language models (LLMs) to create adaptive, personalized educational experiences that help users develop healthier digital habits and skills for navigating online environments.
This workshop is part of the 16th Biannual Conference of the Italian SIGCHI Chapter (CHItaly 2025).
CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
We invite researchers and practitioners in interdisciplinary domains intersecting HCI, AI, psychology, design, and/or education to engage in dialog on the topics below. A key priority of our workshop will be to invite submissions from an intellectually diverse and global group of participants to further discussions on how appropriate human-centered design can contribute to digital wellbeing education. Prospective workshop participants are invited to submit a position paper (2-4 pages) describing and highlighting their contributions to the workshop topics.
The topics of interest for the workshop include, but are not limited to:
- participatory and co-design of digital wellbeing systems;
- tools and strategies to teach digital wellbeing at school;
- strategies and tools for measuring students’ digital wellbeing;
- novel DSCTs that include educational aspects;
- gamification strategies for digital wellbeing;
- AI-based personalized digital wellbeing learning;
- ethical, social, and policy-making factors.
SUBMISSIONS
Submissions of position papers should be of 2-4 pages, in the ACM Primary Article Submission Templates (single column, https://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template).
Papers should be submitted via EasyChair (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=digiteens2025). They will be reviewed by at least one qualified reviewer with expertise in the relevant subject area. The workshop chairs will make final acceptance decisions based on these reviews, considering factors such as relevance to the workshop themes, originality of contribution, and overall quality. Upon acceptance, at least one author of each accepted paper will be required to attend the workshop. Virtual participation will be made possible.

EICS has the longest tradition of bringing together researchers who
contribute to better ways of creating interactive computing systems,
stemming from the conference on command languages in the seventies. The
conference is best known for rigorously contributing and disseminating
research results that hold the midst in between user interface design,
software engineering and computational interaction.
EICS focuses on models, languages, notations, methods, techniques and tools
that support designing, developing, validating and verifying interactive
systems. The conference brings together people who study or practice the
engineering of interactive systems, drawing from design, HCI, software
engineering, requirements engineering, software development, modeling, and
programming.
Submissions advance the state of the art of the engineering of interactive

FULL PAPERS and TECHNICAL NOTES SUBMISSIONS
EICS Full Papers and Technical Notes are published as articles in the
Journal Proceedings of the ACM on Human-Computer Interaction (PACM - EICS
series). There are three submission deadlines per year, and authors can
choose when to submit. Papers follow the traditional journal model of
reviewing: papers may be accepted after submission and review, or may be
recommended for revisions and re-submission to the next round to enable
authors to refine papers based on reviewer recommendations.
Submissions for the journal of this venue should present original and mature
research work within the scope of the conference. Note that accepted journal
papers can be either regular research papers, or technical notes. Technical
Notes are shorter, more focused contributions, that focus specifically on
system contributions and technical work. Elucidating technical details of
complex interactive systems, preferably ensuring the work can be reproduced
or put to practice, is a primary objective of a Technical Note. Tech Notes
require an illustrative example of the system, and they can, but do not need
to, be validated by formal user evaluations or user studies. Validation can
also be done through e.g. simulation, feasibility, or comparisons. Tech
Notes will be judged on their technical merits and relevance to interactive
systems concerns.
There are no length restrictions on Full Papers and Technical Notes, nor any
limit to the number of references that may be included. We advise authors to
ensure the length of their papers is in function of the contributions.
Concise and clear is often to be preferred over lengthy and verbose.

The annual IEEE International Conference on Knowledge Graph (ICKG) provides a premier
international forum for presentation of original research results in knowledge discovery and

aspects of knowledge discovery from data, with a strong focus on graph learning and
knowledge graph, including algorithms, software, platforms. ICKG 2025 intends to draw
researchers and application developers from a wide range of areas such as knowledge
engineering, representation learning, big data analytics, statistics, machine learning, pattern
recognition, data mining, knowledge visualization, high performance computing, and World
Wide Web etc. By promoting novel, high quality research findings, and innovative solutions to

All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings by the IEEE Computer
Society. Awards, including Best Paper, Best Paper Runner up, Best Student Paper, Best Student
Paper Runner up, will be conferred at the conference, with a check and a certificate for each
award. The conference also features a survey track to accept survey papers reviewing recent
studies in all aspects of knowledge discovery and graph learning. At least five high quality
papers will be invited for a special issue of the Knowledge and Information Systems Journal,
in an expanded and revised form. In addition, at least eight quality papers will be invited for a

Paper submissions should be no longer than 8 pages, in the IEEE 2-column format, including
the bibliography and any possible appendices. Submissions longer than 8 pages will be
rejected without review. All submissions will be reviewed by the Program Committee based on
technical quality, originality, significance, and clarity. For survey track paper, please preface the
descriptive paper title with “Survey:”, followed by the actual paper title. For example, a paper
entitled “A Literature Review of Streaming Knowledge Graph”, should be changed as “Survey: A
Literature Review of Streaming Knowledge Graph”. This is for the reviewers and chairs to clearly
bid and handle the papers. Once the paper is accepted, the word, such as “Survey:”, can be
removed from the camera-ready copy.
For special track paper, please preface the descriptive paper title with “SS##:”, where “##” is
the two digits special track ID. For example, a paper entitled “Incremental Knowledge Graph
Learning”, intended to target Special Track 01 (Machine learning and knowledge graph) should

The rapid evolution of Extended Reality (XR) - encompassing Virtual Reality
(VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR) - is reshaping how
people interact with digital environments, opening new frontiers in both
research and application. The inaugural edition of SENSE XR: The Feeling of
Virtual, XR, Haptics, and 3D Graphics is dedicated to investigating the
multisensory and affective dimensions of immersive technology, with a
particular focus on haptic feedback, 3D graphics, and videogame
applications.
The workshop’s primary goal is to foster an interdisciplinary dialogue
among researchers, designers, and practitioners, exploring the role of
sensory interfaces in XR. We aim to examine how multimodal interaction,
tactile technologies, and innovative interface design can enhance user
experience, amplify engagement, and redefine human-computer interaction
within immersive environments.
Structured as a platform for both critical reflection and hands-on
experimentation, SENSE XR combines theoretical discourse with live
demonstrations, design exploration, and collaborative activities. Inspired
by the concept of a scientific jam session, the workshop encourages
participants to co-create, prototype, and exchange insights in a
participatory setting that promotes cross-disciplinary collaboration and
the development of new international partnerships.
We welcome original contributions, including position papers, case studies,

The theme of the 16th Biannual Conference of the Italian SIGCHI Chapter
(CHItaly 2025) is “Technologies and Methodologies of Human-Computer
Interaction in the Third Millennium”. It invites us to reflect on how
technological advances continue to redefine our interactions with the
digital world.
Over the last two decades, the field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI)
has evolved rapidly, adapting to innovations that have transformed everyday
life. Integrating Artificial Intelligence, Augmented and Virtual Reality,
Robotics, voice interfaces, wearable devices, and the Internet of Things
has brought HCI to the forefront of scientific inquiry, offering novel
possibilities and complex challenges. These technologies are not only
changing how we use digital systems but also influencing the ways we think,
learn, communicate, and interact on a personal, social, and organizational
level.
This year’s conference aims to inspire a comprehensive dialogue on how
these technologies are reshaping the landscape of HCI and redefining the
boundaries of human capabilities. Participants will be invited to engage
with questions surrounding ethical implications, accessibility,

We invite original paper submissions that are not under consideration elsewhere. Accepted
papers will appear in the ACM Digital Library and citation indices. At least one author of all
accepted papers must register with full registration fee (not student registration fee), attend in
person, and present their paper during the main conference program. One registration covers
one paper only.
A selected set of accepted top-quality full papers will be invited to submit their extended
versions for publication in an ACM Transactions on Interactive Intelligent Systems (TiiS) special
issue titled “Highlights of IUI 2026” that will appear in 2027.
Reflection of practical and societal impact
We encourage authors to consider practical and societal implications of their work (as well as
its shortcomings) throughout their projects and to include a reflection on those implications in
their papers, in particular how the proposed methods and insights could be applied and
deployed in a realistic setting and how they can improve people's lives in the real world.
We also encourage authors to discuss potential ethical considerations of their work in terms of
diversity, inclusion, and equality; and other topics under the broad responsible AI topic and its
societal impact. We recognize that technology is rarely neutral --- simply by making some
things easier than others, it reshapes society (Winner, 1980; Green, 2020). Further, given the
incredibly short invention-to-application cycles for AI-related technologies, it is becoming
increasingly unlikely that “somebody else” will carefully consider how an emerging intelligent
user interface technology might impact the world before this technology is deployed. Our
purpose is to help authors ensure that the likely societal consequences of their work are
consistent with their intentions and values. For colleagues who are not yet experienced with
incorporating societal impacts into their IUI research but who are willing to give it a try, here
are some ideas to consider.
Anonymization
ACM IUI uses a double-blind review process. All submissions (and supplemental materials)
must be appropriately anonymized according to the following guidelines:
• Authors' names and affiliations are not visible anywhere in the paper.
• Acknowledgements should be anonymized or removed during the review process.
• Self-citations should be included where necessary but must use the third person. For
example, "... as shown in our previous user study [2] ... " is not allowed, whereas "... as shown
in Smith et al. [2] " is acceptable (because in this case the citation [2] will NOT be perceived as
self-citation).
Failure to follow these guidelines may result in submissions being desk-rejected without review.
Accessibility
Authors are asked to make their paper submissions accessible (so that reviewers with vision
impairments can access them, for example). The authors of accepted papers will be required to
make their final PDFs accessible. Please use the SIGCHI Guide to an Accessible Submission for
detailed instructions.
If you are submitting a video as supplemental material, please provide captions, as described
in Technical Requirements and Guidelines for Videos.

Usage of Generative AI
All submissions must comply with the ACM policy on the usage of GenAI: the April 2023 ACM
Policy on Authorship and Frequently Asked Questions. Text generated from a large-scale
language model (LLM), such as ChatGPT, must be clearly marked where such tools are used for
purposes beyond editing the author’s own text. Authors should include a “GenAI Usage
Disclosure” section, right before the references, to provide full disclosure of all use of GenAI
tools in all stages of the research (including the code and data) and the writing. This section,
together with the references, will not be counted toward the word limit.
While we do not anticipate using tools on a large scale to detect LLM-generated text, we will
investigate submissions brought to our attention and desk reject papers where LLM use is not
clearly marked.
Research Involving Human Participants and Subjects
Any research in submitted manuscripts that involves human subjects must go through the
appropriate ethics review requirements that apply to the authors’ research environment. As
research environments vary considerably with regard to their requirements, authors are asked
to submit a short note to reviewers that provides this context. Please also see the 2021 ACM
Publications policy on research involving human participants and subjects before submitting.

Submission Format, Length, and Platform
We adopt the ACM TAPS Workflow.
Please prepare your submission for review in a single column format, using the latest
templates: Word Submission Template, or the LaTeX template using
\documentclass[manuscript,review,anonymous]{acmart} for the LaTeX template.
Papers are of variable length. Paper length must be proportional to its contribution. We
encourage authors to stay within a 10,000 word limit. Authors of papers exceeding 12,000
words should add a note at the end of their manuscript explaining how the length of the paper
is commensurate with the contribution of the work.

All materials must be submitted electronically to the Precision Conference Submission (PCS)
Portal (https://new.precisionconference.com/) by the abstract and paper deadlines.
In PCS, first click “Submissions” at the top of the page, from the dropdown menus for Society,
Conference, and Track, please select “SIGCHI”, “IUI 2026”, and “IUI 2026 Papers”, respectively,
and then press “Go”.
Note: If the corresponding author (the individual who submits the paper, not necessarily the
first author) is affiliated with a participating institution that has an open access agreement with
ACM, the Article Processing Charges (APCs) will be waived for publishing the paper. Details are

Supplemental Materials
Submitting supplemental material (e.g., questionnaires, demo videos of applications, data
sheets) is optional but encouraged.

Publication and Open Access
The official publication date is the date the proceedings are made available in the ACM Digital
Library. This date may be up to two weeks prior to the first day of the conference. The official
publication date affects the deadline for any patent filings related to published work.
Starting January 1, 2026, ACM will fully transition to Open Access. All ACM publications,
including those from ACM-sponsored conferences, will be 100% Open Access. Authors will
have two primary options for publishing Open Access articles with ACM: the ACM Open
institutional model or by paying Article Processing Charges (APCs). With over 1,800 institutions
already part of ACM Open, the majority of ACM-sponsored conference papers will not require
APCs from authors or conferences (currently, around 70-75%).
Authors from institutions not participating in ACM Open will need to pay an APC to publish
their papers, unless they qualify for a financial or discretionary waiver. To find out whether an
APC applies to your article, please consult the list of participating institutions in ACM Open and
review the APC Waivers and Discounts Policy. Keep in mind that waivers are rare and are
granted based on specific criteria set by ACM.
Understanding that this change could present financial challenges, ACM has approved a
temporary subsidy for 2026 to ease the transition and allow more time for institutions to join
ACM Open. The subsidy will offer:
* $250 APC for ACM/SIG members
* $350 for non-members
This represents a 65% discount, funded directly by ACM. Authors are encouraged to help
advocate for their institutions to join ACM Open during this transition period.
This temporary subsidized pricing will apply to all conferences scheduled for 2026.

The annual IEEE International Conference on Knowledge Graph (ICKG) provides a premier
international forum for presentation of original research results in knowledge discovery and
graph learning, discussion of opportunities and challenges, as well as exchange and
dissemination of innovative, practical development experiences. The conference covers all
aspects of knowledge discovery from data, with a strong focus on graph learning and
knowledge graph, including algorithms, software, platforms. ICKG 2025 intends to draw
researchers and application developers from a wide range of areas such as knowledge
engineering, representation learning, big data analytics, statistics, machine learning, pattern
recognition, data mining, knowledge visualization, high performance computing, and World
Wide Web etc. By promoting novel, high quality research findings, and innovative solutions to
address challenges in handling all aspects of learning from data with dependency relationship.
All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings by the IEEE Computer
Society. Awards, including Best Paper, Best Paper Runner up, Best Student Paper, Best Student
Paper Runner up, will be conferred at the conference, with a check and a certificate for each
award. The conference also features a survey track to accept survey papers reviewing recent
studies in all aspects of knowledge discovery and graph learning. At least five high quality

descriptive paper title with “Survey:”, followed by the actual paper title. For example, a paper

Literature Review of Streaming Knowledge Graph”. This is for the reviewers and chairs to clearly
bid and handle the papers. Once the paper is accepted, the word, such as “Survey:”, can be
removed from the camera-ready copy.
For special track paper, please preface the descriptive paper title with “SS##:”, where “##” is
the two digits special track ID. For example, a paper entitled “Incremental Knowledge Graph

These strategies exploit users' psychological vulnerabilities, aiming to boost advertising revenue, resulting in tangible repercussions on users' perceived agency and often leading to a perceived lack of control over their technology use. These problems gave rise to a new kind of psychological "digital wellbeing," investigated in fields such as Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and psychology.
Traditional strategies employed by practitioners and researchers involve the creation of Digital Self-Control Tools (DSCTs), i.e., mobile applications and browser extensions that empower users to monitor their usage patterns and implement interventions, such as timers and lock-out mechanisms, to self-regulate device usage. Yet, researchers and the users themselves are starting to warn that achieving digital wellbeing is a path of personal growth that requires education more than self-monitoring strategies.
The objective of this workshop is to establish a venue for the academic and industrial communities to discuss ongoing research and ideas at the intersection of digital wellbeing and education, aiming to promote the development of strategies and tools to "teach" users – particularly children and teenagers – to use technology more meaningfully and consciously. This objective can be achieved in multiple ways, such as by creating novel DSCTs that include educational aspects, serious games, collaborative platforms to introduce and support digital wellbeing learning at school, or leveraging AI and, in particular, large language models (LLMs) to create adaptive, personalized educational experiences that help users develop healthier digital habits and skills for navigating online environments.
This workshop is part of the 16th Biannual Conference of the Italian SIGCHI Chapter (CHItaly 2025).
CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
We invite researchers and practitioners in interdisciplinary domains intersecting HCI, AI, psychology, design, and/or education to engage in dialog on the topics below. A key priority of our workshop will be to invite submissions from an intellectually diverse and global group of participants to further discussions on how appropriate human-centered design can contribute to digital wellbeing education. Prospective workshop participants are invited to submit a position paper (2-4 pages) describing and highlighting their contributions to the workshop topics.
The topics of interest for the workshop include, but are not limited to:
- participatory and co-design of digital wellbeing systems;
- tools and strategies to teach digital wellbeing at school;
- strategies and tools for measuring students’ digital wellbeing;
- novel DSCTs that include educational aspects;
- gamification strategies for digital wellbeing;
- AI-based personalized digital wellbeing learning;
- ethical, social, and policy-making factors.
SUBMISSIONS
Submissions of position papers should be of 2-4 pages, in the ACM Primary Article Submission Templates (single column, https://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template).

The workshop chairs will make final acceptance decisions based on these reviews, considering factors such as relevance to the workshop themes, originality of contribution, and overall quality. Upon acceptance, at least one author of each accepted paper will be required to attend the workshop. Virtual participation will be made possible.
Accepted and presented papers will be made available on CEUR Workshop Proceedings, if possible, while workshop results will be published on our website.

The rapid advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) are transforming the
way humans interact with technology. The integration of AI in our daily
lives can provide substantial support in many contexts, ranging from
medicine to education, improving the performance of both sides in terms of
knowledge and resources. Although the traditional approach in creating AI
systems focuses on the functionalities and high performance of their
models, modern society is witnessing a shift from mere automation to
augmentation and collaboration, where AI and humans enhance and learn from
each other. A step forward in this direction is enabling humans and AI to
work symbiotically together. Symbiosis can be described as a consequence of
the human-AI partnership, where human intelligence serves to improve AI
systems, and vice versa, through a bidirectional relationship of mutual
exchange.
This workshop aims to explore how humans and AI systems can effectively
collaborate, learn from each other, and co-adapt symbiotically. Through
discussions and the exchange of perspectives, the workshop has the goal of
investigating the key components of the interaction between the two
parties. Participants will gain deeper insights into the implications of
integrating AI into various aspects of daily life, facilitating
problem-solving activities such as learning, decision-making, and
co-creation.

Framing Human-Machine Interactions: An edited collection celebrating the intellectual impact and legacy of Liam Bannon.

Liam Bannon (1953-2024) was a leader in human-centred computing, studying the role of technologies in people’s lives and championing the design of better interactive systems. His academic homes were the disciplines of human-computer interaction and computer supported cooperative work, which he was instrumental in establishing.
From the beginning of his research career in the 1980s to the later stages of his life, he contributed significantly to the historical, theoretical, and methodological framing of HCI and CSCW: developing an activity theoretical lens in HCI, critically examining the history of computing and its intersection with design, the arts and humanities, proposing and refining key concepts, arguing for situated and participatory approaches to create more meaningful designs.
Across his body of work, his core argument was that human beings and their activities in the world must be a core concern of computer science.
Liam’s thinking flourished when moving and threading across disciplinary boundaries, and when following new and often unexpected trajectories, ever since his early studies across psychology and computer science. Similarly to his own way of thinking and writing, he was constantly making connections across people in various fields, contexts, and countries.
As the first anniversary of Liam’s death approaches in September 2025, we launch a new initiative to capture his impact and legacy into the future: an open-access, online edited collection that will bring together pieces by authors who have been influenced and inspired by Liam’s work.
The collection will be available to read for anyone (students, early career researchers, established scholars, etc) interested in the impact and critical discussion of Liam’s work and ideas. The collection will be open to contributions on a rolling basis, and will be updated yearly through annual open calls.
We invite anyone who has been influenced and inspired by Liam Bannon’s work to contribute to its first release, planned for the Winter 2025.
The format of contributions is open: articles, speculative essays, fictions, poems, personal reflections are all welcome. We also welcome contributions containing links to other media. We request that contributions do not exceed 15,000 words in length. There is no minimum length requirement.

🎯 *AIMS AND SCOPE*
In the modern era, healthcare systems predominantly operate with digital
medical data, facilitating a wide array of artificial intelligence
applications. There's a growing interest in quantitatively analysing
clinical images through techniques like Positron Emission Tomography,
Computerised Tomography, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging, particularly in
the realms of texture analysis and radiomics. Through machine and deep
learning advancements, researchers can glean insights to enhance the
discovery of therapeutic tools, bolster diagnostic decisions, and aid in
the rehabilitation process. However, the huge volume of available data may
intensify the diagnostic effort, exacerbated by high inter/intra-patient
variability, diverse imaging techniques, and the necessity to incorporate
data from multiple sensors and sources, thus giving rise to the
well-documented domain shift issue.
To tackle these challenges, radiologists and pathologists employ
Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) systems, which assist in analysing
biomedical images. These systems mitigate or eradicate difficulties arising
from inter- and intra-observer variability, ensuring consistent assessments
of the same region by the same physician at various times and across
different physicians, thanks to adept algorithms.
Additionally, significant issues such as delayed or restricted data access,
driven by privacy, security, and intellectual property concerns, pose
considerable hurdles. Consequently, researchers are increasingly exploring
the use of synthetic data, both for model training and for simulating
scenarios not observed in real life.
Furthermore, the emergence of foundation models, such as Vision
Transformers and large multimodal models, represents a paradigm shift in
medical image analysis. These models, pre-trained on vast datasets,
demonstrate remarkable adaptability across various tasks, including
segmentation, classification, and multi-modal integration. Their ability to
generalise effectively offers promising avenues for addressing domain shift
issues and integrating heterogeneous data sources, enhancing diagnostic and
predictive accuracy.
This workshop aims to provide a comprehensive overview of recent
advancements in biomedical image processing, leveraging machine learning,
deep learning, artificial intelligence, and radiomics features. Emphasis is
placed on practical applications, including potential solutions to address
domain shift issues, the utilisation of synthetic images to augment CAD
systems, and the integration of foundation models into clinical workflows.
Ultimately, the aim is to explore how these techniques can seamlessly
integrate into the conventional medical image processing workflow,
encompassing image acquisition, retrieval, disease detection, prediction,
and classification.

🎤 *ABSTRACT OF THE TALK (Dr. Carsten Marr)*
Diagnosing hematologic malignancies still relies heavily on the subjective
visual assessment of cytological and histological images. Experts are
increasingly challenged by large volumes of data, the rarity of diagnostic
cell types, and the heterogeneous presentation of disease. Despite the
availability of comprehensive patient data, advanced deep learning
algorithms, and a solid understanding of hematopoiesis, there is currently
no robust model capable of automatically analyzing and predicting disease
dynamics from blood smears or bone marrow aspirates. In this talk, I will
present recent advances in AI-based hematopathology that aim to address key
challenges such as model robustness, generalization to real-world data,
bias mitigation, and the integration of multimodal sources. I will
highlight three promising directions: (1) efficient single-cell detection
using neural cellular automata, (2) interpretable feature learning via
sparse autoencoders, and (3) the integration of biomedical prior knowledge
into model training through customized loss functions. These developments
illustrate how tailored AI solutions can bridge the gap between machine
learning algorithms and clinical decision-making, paving the way toward
more accurate, scalable, and explainable diagnostics in hematology 🩸.

[CRISTAIN 2025] The “supporting CRIme reSolution Through Artificial
Intelligence” workshop explores the use of advanced technologies, such as
artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, and augmented
reality, to support professionals in the field of criminal investigation.
The initiative aims to introduce new methodologies that can enhance current
investigative practices. A key element is a human-centered approach which
ensures effective and ethical tools that can be easily used by
professionals in the field. Through discussion and dialogue among
participants, the workshop can foster the identification of effective
solutions to support the management of the investigation process. This
includes building trust in automated systems, supporting human oversight
and interpretability, and enabling collaborative decision-making between

2025. The SRC is a forum to present your work, get feedback from

The rapid evolution of Extended Reality (XR) - encompassing Virtual Reality
(VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR) - is reshaping how
people interact with digital environments, opening new frontiers in both
research and application. The inaugural edition of SENSE XR: The Feeling of
Virtual, XR, Haptics, and 3D Graphics is dedicated to investigating the
multisensory and affective dimensions of immersive technology, with a
particular focus on haptic feedback, 3D graphics, and videogame
applications.
The workshop’s primary goal is to foster an interdisciplinary dialogue
among researchers, designers, and practitioners, exploring the role of
sensory interfaces in XR. We aim to examine how multimodal interaction,
tactile technologies, and innovative interface design can enhance user
experience, amplify engagement, and redefine human-computer interaction
within immersive environments.
Structured as a platform for both critical reflection and hands-on
experimentation, SENSE XR combines theoretical discourse with live
demonstrations, design exploration, and collaborative activities. Inspired
by the concept of a scientific jam session, the workshop encourages
participants to co-create, prototype, and exchange insights in a
participatory setting that promotes cross-disciplinary collaboration and
the development of new international partnerships.
We welcome original contributions, including position papers, case studies,
design explorations, and theoretical reflections, addressing (but not
limited to) the following topics:

Workshop: “Robots for Humans: Empowerment Through Co-Creative and Social
Robots”

We are pleased to invite abstract submissions for the workshop *“Robots
for Humans: Empowerment Through Co-Creative and Social Robots”*, which
will be held in conjunction with the *RO-MAN 2025 Conference*, in
Eindhoven, The Netherlands, on August 29^th , 2025.
The workshop aims to explore the intersection of social robotics,
creativity, and human empowerment. We focus on how co-creative and
social robots can support and enhance human agency, expression,
learning, and wellbeing, especially in vulnerable populations and
non-standard interaction contexts. As robotics moves beyond task
efficiency, we aim to reimagine robots as collaborative partners that
enrich human lives through co-creation, empathy, and mutual adaptation.
The workshop offers the opportunity to experiment, connect, and shape
the future of HRI to researchers, designers, artists, and developers.
Desired outcomes cover social robotics in the direction of designing
robots for empowerment and co-creativity, insights into how HRI design
choices affect the interaction, socialness, and outcomes on empowerment,
and co-creativity. The workshop will conclude with a panel discussion to
synthesize findings and discuss general issues related to the role and
perception of social robots, working towards guidelines for the design
of social robots for creative empowerment.
We invite contributions from researchers and practitioners in HRI, AI,
psychology, design, arts, education, healthcare, and other related
fields. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
* The role of (mini-c) creativity in the context of “everyday” HRI.
* The design of human-robot interactions in art settings.
* Social robots for creativity support.
* Designing for human-robot co-creativity.
* The design of robots with (verbal and non-verbal) social capabilities.
* The evaluation of socialness perception in human-robot interactions.
* The study of the relationship between human-likeness and socialness.
* The application of theoretical principles in applied robotics research.

We particularly welcome interdisciplinary and speculative approaches

We invite authors to submit an extended abstract (up to 2 pages,
excluding references) in IEEE format, outlining their research, ideas,
or ongoing work relevant to the workshop themes. Submissions will be
lightly peer-reviewed by the organizers based on relevance, originality,
and potential for discussion.

SLERD 2025 <https://slerd.org/> will feature an open panel to offer a
moment of reflection and projection—retracing key milestones in the
evolution of Smart Learning Ecosystems (SLEs) and engaging with future
challenges and opportunities.
Topics will include the development of a participatory evaluation
culture and related analytics as a basis for SLEs accountability and
shared educational social responsibility; the “learning by being”
paradigma, inspired and sustained by the design thinking; and the
creation of inclusive, phygital learning spaces. In particular, the
panel will highlight the importance of using technology — especially
AI-based applications — with awareness and responsibility, ensuring

We are pleased to invite proposals for workshops and tutorials to be held in conjunction with
the 31st International ACM Conference on Intelligent User Interfaces (ACM IUI 2026), Paphos,
Cyprus.
Workshops aim to provide a venue for presenting research on emerging or specialized topics
of interest and to offer an informal forum for discussing research questions and challenges.
Potential workshop topics should be related to the general theme of the conference
(“Where HCI meets AI”).
Tutorials aim to provide fundamental knowledge and experience on topics related to intelligent
user interfaces and the intersection between Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Artificial
Intelligence (AI).
We welcome proposals for a wide range of *full-day* or *half-day* workshops and tutorial
formats and activities, including but not limited to:
• Mini Conferences: Workshops that focus on a specific topic and may have their own paper
submission and review processes.
• Interactive Formats: Workshops that encourage active participation and hands-on
experiences through break-out sessions or group work to explore specific topics. They may
have their own paper submission and review process or target a report summarizing the
discussions and outcomes.
• Emerging Work Sessions: Workshops that foster discussion around emerging ideas.
Organizers may raise specific topics and invite position papers, late-breaking results, or
extended abstracts.
• Project-Centric Formats: Workshops tied closely to a specific existing large-scale funded
project(e.g., NSF, EU) with the goal to engage a broader community.
• Interactive Competitions: Formats that invite individuals and teams to participate in
challenges or hackathons on selected topics relevant to IUI.
• Tutorials: Sessions that provide a structured instruction on topics aligned with the conference
theme, such as HCI methods, AI techniques, methodological frameworks, or tools for building
intelligent user interfaces.
Review and Oversight by Workshop and Tutorial Chairs
Proposals will be reviewed and evaluated by the Workshop and Tutorial Chairs. It is possible
that workshops may be cancelled, shortened, merged, or restructured if there are insufficient
submissions.
Workshop and Tutorial summaries will be included in the ACM Digital Library for ACM IUI 2026.
We will also publish joint workshop proceedings for accepted workshop submissions (through
CEUR or a similar venue).
Responsibilities of Workshop and Tutorial Organizers
• Coordinate the Call for Papers, including solicitation, submission handling, and peer review
process.
• Create and maintain a dedicated website with Workshop or Tutorial information. The IUI
Website 2026 will link to this page.
• Prepare and communicate Call for Participation, targeting both IUI and broader relevant
communities (e.g., via mailing lists, social media, newsgroups, or offline events)
• Facilitate the planned activities, including paper presentations, discussions, and/or
interactive elements.
• Submit a workshop or tutorial summary for inclusion in the ACM Digital Library.
• Collect camera-ready papers and author agreements from workshop participants for the joint
workshop proceedings (CEUR or similar).
Note that for the joint proceedings (CEUR or similar), submissions should be peer-reviewed
and will need to meet publishers’ guidelines. CEUR, for example, requires a 5-page minimum
per contribution. Note that not all workshop and tutorial formats listed above may meet these
requirements, and we may not be able to include them.
IUI 2026 is an in-person event, and we expect workshop organizers to attend, allowing the
workshop to be conducted on-site. One author per paper is expected to attend in person to
present the work.
Proposal Format
Workshop or tutorial proposals should be a maximum of four pages long (single-column
format). Prepare your submission using the latest templates: Word Submission Template
(https://authors.acm.org/binaries/content/assets/publications/taps/acm_submi…),
or the LaTex Template

For Latex, please use “\documentclass[manuscript,review]{acmart}”.
The proposals should be organized as follows:
• Name and title: A one-word acronym and a full title. Please indicate “(Workshop)” or
“(Tutorial)” after the title, as appropriate.
• Abstract: A brief summary of the workshop or tutorial.
• Description of workshop or tutorial topic: Should discuss the relevance of the proposed
topic to IUI and its interest for the IUI 2026 audience. Include a concise discussion of why this
workshop or tutorial is particularly relevant for the intended audience and how it will
complement and enhance topics covered at the main conference.
• Previous history: List of previous workshops or tutorials on this topic, including the
conferences that hosted them and the number of participants. If available, report on past
editions of the workshop (including URLs), along with a brief statement of the workshop series
(e.g., covering topics, number of paper submissions, and participants), as well as post-
workshop publications over the years and acceptance statistics. If this is the first edition of the
workshop, describe how it differs from others on similar topics (e.g., by including conference
names and years).
• Organizer(s): Names, affiliations, emails, and web pages of the organizer(s). Provide a brief
description of the background of the organizer(s). Strong proposals normally include organizers
who bring differing perspectives on the topic and are actively connected to the communities of

ABSTRACT
=========
Human-IA collaborative systems (HAIC) improve problem solving and creativity by combining human intelligence with the computational power of AI. Although there are successful applications in healthcare, creative arts and finance, to name a few, current solutions remain domain-specific, highlighting the need for generalizable approaches.
Indeed, effective HAIC systems must address multiple complexities: they must adapt dynamically, integrate human interactions, and address new key challenges such as trust, security and explainability. This workshop provides a forum to explore innovative methodologies, promote interdisciplinary collaboration and advance the development of a unified framework for next-generation HAIC systems.

Topics of Interest include but are not limited to:
- Frameworks and methodologies for designing HAIC systems
- Definition of evaluation criteria and methodologies for the evaluation of HAIC systems
- Design principles for developing truly adaptive HAIC systems that evolve with user interactions and integrate real-time feedback.
- Applications that foster human-AI co-creativity, in music, visual arts, poetry, …
- HAIC applications in healthcare, assistive robotics, precision medicine and industry
- Ethical issues raised by creative HAIC systems (integrity, bias, …)
- Psychological and social implications of the long-term use of HAIC technologies
- Critical perspectives on the potential benefits and risks of HAIC systems in education
- Collaborative decision-making systems
- Future trends in HAIC, including swarm robotics, sustainability, …

SUBMISSIONS
============
We encourage the submission of contributions that explore innovative methodologies for building Human-AI collaborative systems.
In particular, authors can submit:
(A) Regular papers (max. 12 + references – CEUR.ws format);
(B) Short/Position papers (max 8 pages + references - CEUR.ws format);
(C) Discussion papers of recent works published elsewhere (max 8 pages + references - CEUR.ws format);

All submitted papers will be evaluated by at least two members of the program committee, based on originality, significance, relevance and technical quality. Submissions of papers must be in English, in PDF format in the CEUR-WS conference format.
Submissions should be single blinded, i.e. authors names should be included in the submissions.
Submissions must be made through the EasyChair conference system prior the specified deadline (all deadlines refer to GMT).
At least one of the authors should register and take part at the conference to make the presentation.
