International Conference on Advanced Visual Interfaces (AVI) - 30TH ANNIVERSARY
Since 1992, AVI has been a biennial appointment for a vast international community of experts with a broad range of backgrounds. Throughout three decades, the Conference has attracted leading researchers of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) from all over the world, offering a forum to present and disseminate new technological results, paradigms, and visions for HCI and user interfaces.
Because of advanced technology and new possibilities for user interaction, AVI has broadened the topics it covers, still keeping its primary focus on the conception, design, implementation, and evaluation of novel visual interfaces.
While rooted in Italy, AVI is an actual international conference concerning the nationality of participants, authors of papers, and program committee members. The mixture of carefully selected research contributions paired with cordial Italian hospitality creates a unique conference atmosphere, which has made AVI an internationally recognized brand.
AVI 2022 is under the patronage of Sapienza Università di Roma, Dipartimento di Informatica, Italy.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we are planning for a hybrid conference and will accommodate online presentations where needed.
ACM HT - Hypertext and Social Media conference - is a premium venue for high-quality peer-reviewed research on hypertext theory, systems and applications. It is concerned with all aspects of modern hypertext research including social media, linked open data and knowledge graphs, information exploration and visualisation, dynamic and computed hypermedia, as well applications for digital arts, culture, and humanities.
ACM HT is sponsored by ACM SIGWEB. The proceedings are published by the ACM and will be part of the ACM Digital Library.

HT 2022 will explore, study and shape a broad range of dimensions faced by modern hypertext studies, covering the following tracks chaired by leading researchers:

* Information exploration and visualisation (chair: Claus Atzenbeck)
* Personalized recommender systems (chairs: Markus Zanker, Eva Zangerle, Osnat Mokryn)
Submissions:

HT 2022 will include high-quality peer-reviewed papers related to the above key areas. Maintaining the high quality and impact of the HT series, each paper will have three reviews by program committee members and a meta-review presenting the reviewers' consensual view; the review process will be coordinated by the program chairs in collaboration with the corresponding area chairs.
* Peer reviewed, original, and principled research papers addressing both the theory and practice of HT and papers showcasing innovative use of HT and exploring the benefits and challenges of applying HT technology in real-life applications and contexts are welcome. Papers should present original reports of substantive new research techniques, findings, and applications of HT. They should place the work within the field and clearly indicate innovative aspects. Research procedures and technical methods should be presented in sufficient detail to ensure scrutiny and reproducibility. Results should be clearly communicated and implications of the contributions/findings for HT and beyond should be explicitly discussed.
* Length: Papers should be at most 14 pages and will be reviewed according to the presented contributions. In other words, we don’t have a distinct category for short papers, which means that papers, no matter what page length, will be reviewed according to the same criteria.

Accepted papers will be published by ACM and will be available via the ACM Digital Library. Extended versions of selected papers presented at the conference could be selected to appear in different special issues in international journals according to the specific tracks (see the web site for details). At least one author of each accepted paper must register for the conference and present the paper there. Submission details will appear soon.

**BACKGROUND AND SCOPE**

**ACM UMAP'22** is pleased to invite proposals for workshops and
tutorials to be held in conjunction with the conference. ACM UMAP is the
premier international conference for researchers and practitioners
working on systems that adapt to individual users or to groups of users,
and which collect, represent, and model user information.
We encourage both researchers and industry practitioners to submit
workshop and tutorial proposals. We strongly suggest involving
organizers from different institutions, bringing different perspectives
to the workshop or tutorial topic. We welcome workshops and tutorials
with a creative structure that may attract various types of attendees
and ensure rich interactions. All the tutorials and workshops should
support both virtual and physical attendance (although we hope physical
to be the preferred option).

In this edition, our goal is to have a balanced workshop program,
comprising workshops with different formats and addressing newly
emerging, currently evolving and established research topics. Different
schemas to organize the workshop are possible, such as:
- Working group meetings around a problem or topic.
- Mini-conferences on special topics, having their own paper submission
and review processes.
- Mini-competitions or challenges around selected topics with individual
or team participation.
- Interactive discussion meetings focusing on subtopics of the UMAP
general research topics.

An ideal tutorial should be broad enough to provide a basic introduction
to the chosen area, but it should also cover the most important topics

exploiting data mining and big data analytics for user modeling,
evaluation methodologies, data visualization, etc.).
- User modeling and personalization techniques for specific domains

Special Issue Information
This special issue addresses research on Explainable User Models. As AI systems’ actions and decisions will significantly affect their users, it is important to be able to understand how an AI system represents its users. It is a well-known hurdle that many AI algorithms behave largely as black boxes. One key aim of explainability is, therefore, to make the inner workings of AI systems more accessible and transparent.
Such explanations can be helpful in the case when the system uses information about the user to develop a working representation of the user, and then uses this representation to adjust or inform system behavior. E.g., an educational system could detect whether students have a more internal or external locus of control, a music recommender system could adapt the music it is playing to the current mood of a user, or an aviation system could detect the visual memory capacity of its pilots. However, when adapting to such user models it is crucial that these models are accurately detected. Furthermore, for such explanations to be useful, they need to be able to explain or justify their representations of users in a human-understandable way. This creates a necessity for techniques that will create models for the automatic generation of satisfactory explanations intelligible for human users interacting with the system.
The scope of the special issue includes but is not limited to:

Abstract: This lecture addresses gender issues in Computer science from Research, Education,
Society perspectives. Jaccheri will start from UN Goal 5, Achieve gender equality and empower
all women and girls to contextualize the topic in an open and meaningful context. She presents research
issues, some from her own projects, others from examples of biased technology, like smartphone voice
assistants and data sets for job recruiting based on male population.
Then, she presents statistics about female presence in education, research and industry.
Further, the presentation goes in depth and presents specific projects for increasing gender balance
among students and among professors. The presentation concludes with a list of International projects
and resources. The goal is to start a dialogue with the local community and exchange best practice.
The seminar will be as interactive as possible and will be offered as hybrid event.
Letizia Jaccheri (Master in CS from University of Pisa, PhD from Politecnico di Torino, Italy) is a Professor
at the Department of Computer Science of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and
adjunct professor at UiT The Arctic University of Norway. Jaccheri's research is on software engineering,
at the intersection with art, gender, and social innovation. Letizia has published more than 200 papers in
international conferences and journals, has supervised PhD students and Post-doctoral students, and has
acted as opponent for national and international defenses.
Prof. Jaccheri has been teaching courses in software engineering at various levels since 1994,
with a passion for the course Customer Driven Project (link https://sbs.idi.ntnu.no/tdt4290into).
From 2015 to April 2018 she acted as one of the independent directors of Reply S.p.A., the largest Italian
IT company with 9059 employees. From 2013 to 2017 she was department head for the Computer Science department
at NTNU. She is ACM Distinguished speaker (link https://speakers.acm.org/speakers/jaccheri_10303) . In 2021
she got two prizes: the ODA Award Woman women prize and the NTNU prize for gender equality and diversity for
her work in gender and computer science with the projects IDUN (link https://www.ntnu.edu/idun),
EUGAIN (link https://eugain.eu/) and Kodeløypa (link https://www.ntnu.no/skolelab/kodeloypa).
Prof. Jaccheri has plans to contribute to address the issue of diversity in computer science at local and

**BACKGROUND AND SCOPE**
============================
**ACM UMAP** – ***User Modeling, Adaptation and Personalization*** – is
the premier international conference for researchers and practitioners
working on systems that adapt to individual users or to groups of users,
and that collect, represent, and model user information. **ACM UMAP** is
sponsored by ACM SIGCHI (https://sigchi.org) and SIGWEB
(https://www.sigweb.org), and organized with User Modeling Inc.
(https://um.org) as the core Steering Committee, extended with past
years’ chairs. The proceedings are published by the **ACM** and will be
part of the ACM Digital Library (https://dl.acm.org).
**ACM UMAP** covers a wide variety of research areas where
personalization and adaptation may be applied. The main theme of **UMAP
2022** is ***“User control in personalized systems”***. Specifically, we
welcome submissions related to user modeling, personalization, and
adaptation in all areas of personalized systems, with an emphasis on how
to balance adaptivity and user control. Below we present a short (but
not prescriptive) list of topics of importance to the conference.
ACM UMAP is co-located and collaborates with the ACM Hypertext
conference (https://ht.acm.org/ht2022/). UMAP takes place one week after
Hypertext, and uses the same submission dates and formats. We expect
authors to submit research on personalized systems to UMAP and invite
authors to submit their Web-related work without a focus on
personalization to the Hypertext conference. The two conferences will
organize one shared track on **personalized recommender systems** (same
track chairs and PC, see the track description).

### **Personalized Recommender Systems***
**Track Chairs: Osnat Mokryn (University of Haifa), Eva Zangerle
(University of Innsbruck, Austria) and Markus Zanker (University of
Bolzano, Italy, and University of Klagenfurt, Austria)**
(*) This is a joint track between ACM UMAP and ACM Hypertext (same track
chairs, overlapping PC). Authors planning to contribute to this track
can submit to either conference, depending on their broader interest in
either Hypertext or UMAP. Track chairs organize a special issue in the
journal New Review of Hypermedia and Multimedia.
This track aims to provide a forum for researchers and practitioners to
discuss open challenges, latest solutions and novel research approaches
in the field of recommender systems. In addition to mature research
works addressing technical aspects pertaining to recommendations, we
also particularly welcome research contributions that address questions
related to the user perception and the business value of recommender
systems.
### **Adaptive Hypermedia, Semantic, and Social Web**

This track aims to provide a forum to researchers to discuss open
research problems, solid solutions, latest challenges, novel
applications, and innovative research approaches in adaptive hypermedia,
semantic and social web. We invite original submissions addressing all
aspects of personalization, user models building, and personal
experience in online social systems.
### **Intelligent User Interfaces**
**Track chairs: Elisabeth Lex (Graz University of Technology, Austria)
and Marko Tkalcic (University of Primorska, Slovenia)**
This topic can be characterized by exploring how to make the interaction
between computers and people smarter and more productive, which may
leverage solutions from human-computer interaction, data mining, natural
language processing, information visualization, and knowledge
representation and reasoning.
### **Technology-Enhanced Adaptive Learning**
**Track chairs: Judy Kay (University of Sydney, Australia) and Sharon
Hsiao (Santa Clara University, US)**
This track invites researchers, developers, and practitioners from
various disciplines to present their innovative learning solutions,
share acquired experience, and discuss their modeling challenges for
personalized adaptive learning.
### **Fairness, Transparency, Accountability, and Privacy**
**Track chairs: Bamshad Mobasher (DePaul University College of Computing
and Digital Media, US) and Munindar P. Singh (NC State University, US)**
Adaptive systems researchers and developers have a social responsibility
to care about the impact of their technologies on individual people
(users, providers, and other stakeholders) and on society. This track
invites work that pertains to the science of building, maintaining,
evaluating, and studying adaptive systems that are fair, transparent,
respectful of users’ privacy, and beneficial to society.
### **Personalization for Persuasive and Behavior Change Systems**
**Track chairs: Julita Vassileva (University of Saskatchewan, Canada)
and Panagiotis Germanakos (SAP SE, Germany)**
This track invites original submissions addressing the areas of
personalization and tailoring for persuasive technologies, including but
not limited to personalization models, user models, computational
personalization, design and evaluation methods, and personal experience
designing personalized and adaptive behaviour change technologies.
### **Virtual Assistants and Personalized Human-robot Interaction**
**Track chairs: Radhika Garg (Syracuse University, US) and Cristina Gena
(University of Torino, Italy)**
This track aims at investigating new models and techniques for the
adaptation of synthetic companions (e.g., virtual assistants, chatbots,
social robots) to the individual user.
### **Research Methods and Reproducibility**
**Track chairs: Odd Erik Gundersen (Norwegian University of Science and
Technology, Norway) and Dietmar Jannach (University of Klagenfurt,
Austria)**
This track accepts works on methodologies for the evaluation of
personalized systems, benchmarks, measurement scales, with particular
attention to reproducibility of results and of techniques.

The maximum length is **14 pages (excluding references) in the ACM new
single-column format**. We encourage papers of any length up to 14
pages; reviewers will be asked to comment on whether the length is
appropriate for the contribution.
**Additional review criteria are available in the online version of the
CFP on the UMAP 2022 web site.**
Each accepted paper will be included in the conference proceedings and
presented at the conference.
UMAP uses a **double blind** review process. Authors must omit their
names and affiliations from submissions, and avoid obvious identifying
statements. For instance, citations to the authors' own prior work
should be made in the third person. Failure to anonymize your submission
results in the desk-rejection of your paper.

International Conference on Advanced Visual Interfaces (AVI) - 30TH ANNIVERSARY
Since 1992, AVI has been a biennial appointment for a vast international community of experts with a broad range of backgrounds. Throughout three decades, the Conference has attracted leading researchers of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) from all over the world, offering a forum to present and disseminate new technological results, paradigms, and visions for HCI and user interfaces.
Because of advanced technology and new possibilities for user interaction, AVI has broadened the topics it covers, still keeping its primary focus on the conception, design, implementation, and evaluation of novel visual interfaces.
While rooted in Italy, AVI is an actual international conference concerning the nationality of participants, authors of papers, and program committee members. The mixture of carefully selected research contributions paired with cordial Italian hospitality creates a unique conference atmosphere, which has made AVI an internationally recognized brand.

We solicit high-quality original research papers in the area of advanced visual interfaces and Human-Computer Interaction in general. All submissions will be peer-reviewed by an international panel of experts.
Accepted long and short research papers will be included in the Proceedings published by ACM Press and available in the ACM Digital Library.
Long and Short papers are publications that address AVI 2022 topics and describe original, unpublished research.
The maximum length of long papers is eight pages (with one additional page for references).

POSTER PAPERS
The AVI 2022 Poster Track allows researchers and practitioners to present their work in progress and obtain precious feedback from their peers in an informal setting.

DEMO PAPERS
Demo papers refer to something that authors can show at the Conference to demonstrate a completed or ongoing research effort. We are looking for implementations of novel and exciting concepts or systems related to the main topics of AVI.

Journal Special Issue and Best Paper Award
Selected papers will be invited to submit an extended version to a special issue
in the journal MDPI Sensors, where the theme of the special issue will be
"Application of Information Technology (IT) to Social Good"

Specifically 5 papers will be invited free of charge and another 5 papers will get a
20% discount on the publication fees.

Special Tracks Proposals
GoodIT 2022 will feature special tracks whose aim is to focus on a specific topic of
interest related to the overall scope of the conference. We solicit proposals for special
tracks to be held within the main conference and whose publications will be included
in the conference proceedings. Tracks proposals can focus on any contemporary
themes that highlight social good aspects in the design, implementation,
deployment, securing, and evaluation of IT technologies.
Special Track Proposal Format
A special track proposal must contain the following information:
• Title of the special track.
• The names of the organizers (indicatively, two) with affiliations, contact
information, and a single paragraph of a brief bio.
• A short description of the scope and topics of the track (max 1/2 page) and a brief
explanation of: (1) why the topic is timely and important; (2) why the topic is related
to the conference’s main theme; (3) why the track may attract a significant number of
submissions of good quality.
• Indication if a journal special issue is associated with the track, possibly with
information on the process of selecting papers.
• The plan to disseminate the call for papers of the special track for achieving a
reasonable number of paper submissions (a list of emailing lists will help).
• A tentative Program Committee list.
• A draft Call for Papers (max 1 page).
Publication
Papers submitted to each particular track have to satisfy the same criteria as for the
main conference. They must be original works and must not have been previously
published. They have to be peer-reviewed by the track's Program Committee (at least
three reviews per submitted paper are required). The final version of papers must
follow the formatting instructions of the main conference
(https://cyprusconferences.org/goodit2022/index.php/authors/). At least one of the
authors of all accepted papers must register and present the work at the conference;
otherwise, the paper will not be published in the proceedings. All accepted and
presented papers will be included in the conference proceedings published in the
ACM Digital Library. The special track may provide an option for publishing extended
versions of selected papers in a special issue of a journal.

Nowadays, there is a growing — yet debated — discussion around the negative aspects of overusing technology, with many people that feel conflicted about the amount of time they spend on their devices. In this context, researchers and practitioners have started to consider a new kind of psychological digital wellbeing, giving rise to the flourishing of digital self-control tools (DSCTs), i.e., external applications that support users in self-regulating their technology use through interventions like timers and lock-out mechanisms.
Currently, the digital wellbeing topic is nearly always contextualized to consider single technological sources at a time, with a prevalence of studies and DSCTs that focus on smartphones only. As many people nowadays own (and use) several devices, however, there is a need to better understand their complex and overlapping use (and non-use), and the relationships to other people’s digital wellbeing.
The purpose of this special issue is to provide the academic and industry research communities a venue for work at the state-of-the-art on digital wellbeing and DSCTs, with a particular focus on digital wellbeing within complex technological contexts.
Topics of interest for the special issue include, but are not limited to:
- Critical and systematic reviews in the area of digital wellbeing and/or DSCTs
- Evidence-based work that challenges and expands current definitions of digital wellbeing

The guest editors are proud to invite and welcome contributions from
researchers and practitioners from all over the world involved in the
development of Smart Learning Ecosystems and Smart Education, as engines
of social innovation and territorial development. At the core, the
adjective smart comprises terms like intelligent, purpose oriented,
supportive, artful, clever and the like. Thus, smart does not
necessarily include the usage of technology (neither does it exclude
technology!).
The COVID-19 pandemic has been extremely challenging to address several
research contexts, suddenly the two dimensions that characterises the
smart learning ecosystems – physical and virtual – started to be
perceived somewhat as antithetical and it came out that the e-maturity
of a learning ecosystem is not sufficient to explain and predict its
transformation. Many factors concur – processual, social, individual –
to determine the technological evolution of learning ecosystems and
their smartness. For sure the pandemic has generated a higher awareness
about the intrinsic nature of the smart learning ecosystems and it is
likely that they will no longer be the same after the pandemic. Papers
that report on work that nurtures a post-pandemic view and strategy for
a better learning world are specially welcome.
This special issue is supported by the Association for Smart Learning
Ecosystems and Regional Development (ASLERD) and welcome the submission
of substantially extended version of the papers presented at SLERD 2021.

This special issue considers research in the area of multimedia-based and multimodal systems for advanced human-computer interaction (HCI). It aims at exploring and expanding on its frontiers. Therefore it especially seeks high-quality contributions from research areas at the frontiers of multimedia HCI, such as arts and humanities, education, cyber-physical systems, artificial intelligence.
The special issue will also host the extended versions of selected best papers presented at the 2021 Edition of CHItaly, the biannual Conference of the Italian SIGCHI Chapter, held from 11 to 13 July 2021 in Bolzano, Italy. Authors should prepare their manuscript according to the Instructions for Authors available from the Multimedia Tools and Applications website <https://springer.com/11042>. Authors should submit through the online submission site at https://www.editorialmanager.com/mtap/default.aspx <https://www.editorialmanager.com/mtap/default.aspx> and select “SI 1224 - New Frontiers in Multimedia-based and Multimodal HCI” when they reach the “Article Type” step in the submission process. Submitted papers should present original, unpublished work, relevant to one of the topics of the special issue. All submitted papers will be evaluated on the basis of relevance, significance of contribution, technical quality, scholarship, and quality of presentation, by at least three independent reviewers. It is the policy of the journal that no submission, or substantially overlapping submission, be published or be under review at another journal or conference at any time during the review process.
Please note that the authors of papers presented at CHItaly 2021 are invited to submit an extended version of their contributions by taking into consideration both the reviewers’ comments on their conference paper, and the feedback received during presentation at the conference. It is worth clarifying that that the extended version is expected to present a significant contribution beyond the conference paper, and contain at least 30% original scientific contribution, e.g., in the form of new algorithms, experiments or qualitative/quantitative comparisons. Neither verbatim transfer of large parts of the conference paper nor reproduction of already published figures will be tolerated. Authors must explain in the introduction to the paper the new contribution to the field made by the submission, and the original conference publication should be cited in the text. The extended versions of CHItaly papers will undergo the ordinary review process, and be accepted only if well-suited to the topic of this special issue and meeting the scientific level of the journal.

The ACM GoodIT conference seeks papers describing significant research

Main Track Paper Submission
The papers should not exceed six (6) pages (US letter size) double-column,
including figures, tables, and references in standard ACM format
(https://cyprusconferences.org/goodit2022/index.php/authors/).
They must be original works and must not have been previously published.
At least one of the authors of all accepted papers must register and present the
work at the conference; otherwise, the paper will not be published in the
proceedings. All accepted and presented papers will be included in the conference
proceedings published in the ACM Digital Library.
Selected papers will be invited to submit an extended version to a special issue
in the journal MDPI Sensors, where the theme of the special issue will be
"Application of Information Technology (IT) to Social Good". Specifically 5 papers
will be invited free of charge and another 5 papers will get a 20% discount on
the publication fees.
Furthermore, MDPI Sensors will sponsor a Best Paper Award with the amount of
400 CHF.
Separate call-for-papers will be announced for the special tracks (more information
will be available on the conference web site).
Work-in-Progress and PhD Track
Inside ACM GoodIT, the Work-in-Progress and PhD Track provides an opportunity to
showcase interesting new work that is still at an early stage. We encourage
practitioners and researchers to submit to the Work-in-Progress venue as it provides
a unique opportunity for sharing valuable ideas, eliciting feedback on early-stage
work, and fostering discussions and collaborations among colleagues. Moreover, this
track provides a platform for PhD students to present and receive feedback on their
ongoing research. Students at different stages of their research will have the
opportunity to present and discuss their research questions, goals, methods and
results. This is an opportunity to obtain guidance on various aspects of their research
from established researchers and other PhD students working in research areas
related to technologies for social good.

Scope
Service-oriented and cloud computing have made a huge impact both on the software
industry and on the research community. Today, service and cloud technologies are
applied to build large-scale software landscapes as well as to provide single software
services to end users. Services today are independently developed and deployed as
well as freely composed while they can be implemented in a variety of technologies, a
quite important fact from a business perspective. Similarly, cloud computing aims at
enabling flexibility by offering a centralised sharing of resources. The industry's need
for agile and flexible software and IT systems has made cloud computing the
dominating paradigm for provisioning computational resources in a scalable, on-
demand fashion. Nevertheless, service developers, providers, and integrators still
need to create methods, tools and techniques to support cost-effective and secure
development as well as use of dependable devices, platforms, services and service-

The European Conference on Service-Oriented and Cloud Computing (ESOCC) is the
premier conference on advances in the state of the art and practice of service-
oriented computing and cloud computing in Europe. The main objectives of this
conference are to facilitate the exchange between researchers and practitioners in the

We only accept original papers, not submitted for publication elsewhere. The papers
must be formatted according to the LNCS proceedings guidelines. They must be

All accepted regular research papers are expected to be published in the main

International Conference on Advanced Visual Interfaces (AVI) - 30TH ANNIVERSARY
Since 1992, AVI has been a biennial appointment for a vast international community of experts with a broad range of backgrounds. Throughout three decades, the Conference has attracted leading researchers of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) from all over the world, offering a forum to present and disseminate new technological results, paradigms, and visions for HCI and user interfaces.
Because of advanced technology and new possibilities for user interaction, AVI has broadened the topics it covers, still keeping its primary focus on the conception, design, implementation, and evaluation of novel visual interfaces.
While rooted in Italy, AVI is an actual international conference concerning the nationality of participants, authors of papers, and program committee members. The mixture of carefully selected research contributions paired with cordial Italian hospitality creates a unique conference atmosphere, which has made AVI an internationally recognized brand.
AVI 2022 is under the patronage of Sapienza Università di Roma, Dipartimento di Informatica, Italy.

LONG AND SHORT RESEARCH PAPERS
We solicit high-quality original research papers in the area of advanced visual interfaces and Human-Computer Interaction in general. All submissions will be peer-reviewed by an international panel of experts.
Accepted long and short research papers will be included in the Proceedings published by ACM Press and available in the ACM Digital Library.
Long and Short papers are publications that address AVI 2022 topics and describe original, unpublished research.
The maximum length of long papers is eight pages (with one additional page for references).
The maximum length of short papers is four pages (with one additional page for references).
POSTER PAPERS
The AVI 2022 Poster Track allows researchers and practitioners to present their work in progress and obtain precious feedback from their peers in an informal setting.
Poster submissions must be up to 2 pages (with one additional page for references), not anonymized.
DEMO PAPERS
Demo papers refer to something that authors can show at the Conference to demonstrate a completed or ongoing research effort. We are looking for implementations of novel and exciting concepts or systems related to the main topics of AVI.
Demo submissions must be up to 2 pages (with one additional page for references), not anonymized.
SUBMISSION FORMAT
All the papers mentioned above, i.e., long and short research papers, posters, and demos, require online submission. Authors must format these submissions according to the ACM SIGCONF template. Please find the templates below:

This special issue considers research in the area of multimedia-based and multimodal systems for advanced human-computer interaction (HCI). It aims at exploring and expanding on its frontiers. Therefore it especially seeks high-quality contributions from research areas at the frontiers of multimedia HCI, such as arts and humanities, education, cyber-physical systems, artificial intelligence.
The special issue will also host the extended versions of selected best papers presented at the 2021 Edition of CHItaly, the biannual Conference of the Italian SIGCHI Chapter, held from 11 to 13 July 2021 in Bolzano, Italy. Such papers will undergo a regular review process as detailed in the Submission Guidelines below.

Authors should prepare their manuscript according to the Instructions for Authors available from the Multimedia Tools and Applications website<https://springer.com/11042>. Authors should submit through the online submission site at https://www.editorialmanager.com/mtap/default.aspx<https://www.editorialmanager.com/mtap/default.aspx> and select “SI 1224 - New Frontiers in Multimedia-based and Multimodal HCI” when they reach the “Article Type” step in the submission process. Submitted papers should present original, unpublished work, relevant to one of the topics of the special issue. All submitted papers will be evaluated on the basis of relevance, significance of contribution, technical quality, scholarship, and quality of presentation, by at least three independent reviewers. It is the policy of the journal that no submission, or substantially overlapping submission, be published or be under review at another journal or conference at any time during the review process.
Please note that the authors of papers presented at CHItaly 2021 are invited to submit an extended version of their contributions by taking into consideration both the reviewers’ comments on their conference paper, and the feedback received during presentation at the conference. It is worth clarifying that that the extended version is expected to present a significant contribution beyond the conference paper, and contain at least 30% original scientific contribution, e.g., in the form of new algorithms, experiments or qualitative/quantitative comparisons. Neither verbatim transfer of large parts of the conference paper nor reproduction of already published figures will be tolerated. Authors must explain in the introduction to the paper the new contribution to the field made by the submission, and the original conference publication should be cited in the text. The extended versions of CHItaly papers will undergo the ordinary review process, and be accepted only if well-suited to the topic of this special issue and meeting the scientific level of the journal.

Journal Special Issue and Best Paper Award
Selected papers will be invited to submit an extended version to a special issue
in the journal MDPI Sensors, where the theme of the special issue will be
"Application of Information Technology (IT) to Social Good". Specifically 5 papers
will be invited free of charge and another 5 papers will get a 20% discount on
the publication fees.
Furthermore, MDPI Sensors will sponsor a Best Paper Award with the amount of
400 CHF.
Special Tracks Proposals
GoodIT 2022 will feature special tracks whose aim is to focus on a specific topic of
interest related to the overall scope of the conference. We solicit proposals for special
tracks to be held within the main conference and whose publications will be included
in the conference proceedings. Tracks proposals can focus on any contemporary
themes that highlight social good aspects in the design, implementation,
deployment, securing, and evaluation of IT technologies.
Special Track Proposal Format
A special track proposal must contain the following information:
• Title of the special track.
• The names of the organizers (indicatively, two) with affiliations, contact
information, and a single paragraph of a brief bio.
• A short description of the scope and topics of the track (max 1/2 page) and a brief
explanation of: (1) why the topic is timely and important; (2) why the topic is related
to the conference’s main theme; (3) why the track may attract a significant number of
submissions of good quality.
• Indication if a journal special issue is associated with the track, possibly with
information on the process of selecting papers.
• The plan to disseminate the call for papers of the special track for achieving a
reasonable number of paper submissions (a list of emailing lists will help).
• A tentative Program Committee list.
• A draft Call for Papers (max 1 page).
Publication
Papers submitted to each particular track have to satisfy the same criteria as for the
main conference. They must be original works and must not have been previously
published. They have to be peer-reviewed by the track's Program Committee (at least
three reviews per submitted paper are required). The final version of papers must
follow the formatting instructions of the main conference
(https://cyprusconferences.org/goodit2022/index.php/authors/). At least one of the
authors of all accepted papers must register and present the work at the conference;
otherwise, the paper will not be published in the proceedings. All accepted and
presented papers will be included in the conference proceedings published in the
ACM Digital Library. The special track may provide an option for publishing extended
versions of selected papers in a special issue of a journal.

Scope
Service-oriented and cloud computing have made a huge impact both on the software
industry and on the research community. Today, service and cloud technologies are
applied to build large-scale software landscapes as well as to provide single software
services to end users. Services today are independently developed and deployed as
well as freely composed while they can be implemented in a variety of technologies, a
quite important fact from a business perspective. Similarly, cloud computing aims at
enabling flexibility by offering a centralised sharing of resources. The industry's need

The European Conference on Service-Oriented and Cloud Computing (ESOCC) is the
premier conference on advances in the state of the art and practice of service-
oriented computing and cloud computing in Europe. The main objectives of this
conference are to facilitate the exchange between researchers and practitioners in the

Submissions
ESOCC 2022 invites submissions for the main track:
- Regular research papers (15 pages including references)
We only accept original papers, not submitted for publication elsewhere. The papers
must be formatted according to the LNCS proceedings guidelines. They must be
submitted to the EasyChair site at
http://www.cs.ucy.ac.cy/~george/GPLists_2021/lm.php?tk=SENJLUlUQUxZCQkJaGNp… by selecting the main track.
All accepted regular research papers are expected to be published in the main
conference proceedings by Springer in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS)
series (http://www.springer.com/lncs).
At least one author of each accepted paper is expected to register and present the
work at the conference.
A journal special issue is planned, and authors of selected accepted papers will be
invited to submit extended versions of their articles.
