The European Conference on Software Architecture (ECSA) is the premier European software
architecture conference, providing researchers, practitioners, and educators with a platform to
present and discuss the most recent, innovative, and significant findings and experiences in the
field of software architecture research and practice. The 19th European Conference on Software
Architecture (ECSA 2025) will be held from September 15 to 19, 2025. ECSA 2025 is planned as
an in-person conference taking place in the beautiful city of Limassol (Cyprus).
ECSA 2025 enriches its partnership with more journals and opportunities than ever before, to
incorporate journal-first papers into its program. The journals are:
- Journal of Systems and Software (JSS)
- IEEE Software
- Information & Software Technology (IST)
- Transaction on Software Engineering (TSE)
We invite authors of journal papers accepted by JSS, IEEE Software, IST, or TSE since December
1, 2023 to submit their work for presentation at ECSA 2025, which will allow authors of
journal-first papers to present their work to the community.
SCOPE
A journal-first paper submitted to ECSA 2025 must adhere to the following criteria:
• The paper must have been accepted after peer review by one between JSS, IEEE Software,
IST or TSE.
• The paper is in the scope of the conference.
• The paper has not been presented at and is not under consideration for journal-first
programs of other conferences.
PAPER SUBMISSION
We invite authors of papers that meet the above criteria to submit a proposal that includes a
summary of the original paper that highlights the contributions, motivates the relevance for
the ECSA, and briefly discusses how the work has developed after the original publication -
if it is the case. Please include the DOI of the original journal paper. ECSA offers an opportunity
to disseminate your work to a broader community audience.
The submission must be 3-4 pages long and conform to the Springer LNCS style
(https://www.springer.com/gp/computer-science/lncs/conference-proceedings-gu…).
Accepted submissions will be invited to present at the conference. The track chairs will write a
summary of the accepted submissions that will be included in the conference proceedings.
Proposals must be submitted via the online EasyChair submission site for the ECSA 2025
conference, selecting the "Journal First" Track:

EVALUATION
Authors will be invited to present their paper at ECSA 2025 if it meets the above criteria. Please
note that we plan to include as many journal-first papers as possible in the ECSA main program.
However, if we receive an exceptionally high number of submissions, we may have to prioritize
presentation proposals according to their fit to the conference theme and sessions structure.
As the papers have already been reviewed and accepted by a journal, we will not review the
submission for technical content; instead, we will focus on the track’s criteria.
PRESENTATION
ECSA 2025 is planned to be an in-person/physical conference. The journal-first paper
presentations are part of the ECSA conference’s main program. As a journal-first presenter,
you will benefit from the conference presentation in many ways, such as, outreach to a broader
audience and interactions and discussions with peers. At least one author of each submission
accepted for the journal-first program must register and attend the conference to present the
paper.

Smart Learning Ecosystems should perform at best on all the dimensions
that contribute to the well-being of students and all players involved
in the development of a learning process: /infrastructures, food,
environment, info/admin services, mobility, safety, social interaction,
satisfaction, challenges, self-fulfillment/. Being inspired by the flow
theory and by the Maslow’s pyramid, we can state that: ecosystems are
smart when /“individuals that take part in the local processes achieve a
high level of skills and, at the same time, are also strongly motivated
and engaged by continuous and adequate challenges, provided that their
primary needs are reasonably satisfied”./
The smartness of learning ecosystems, thus, is not created merely
through the availability of digital infrastructures and applications.
When technologies are both available and adopted enthusiastically, they
can start to make a difference in both simplifying and accelerating
progress toward the achievement of system smartness. One has to keep in
mind, however, that technologies are smart not because they are capable
of replacing human reasoning but, rather because they can help towards
achieving a people centered smartness, through streamlining mundane
organisational tasks, and enhancing the skills of all actors involved in
learning processes.
Our duty, with the help of technology, is to support learning ecosystems
(formal, informal, non-formal) to develop their people centered
smartness towards becoming incubators of social innovation and engines
of sustainable regional development./Smartness is a goal/ and we can
support our learning ecosystems along the process to achieve it by
proposing solutions capable to solve or mitigate problems that prevent
the learning ecosystems to be people centered.
We expect students, wishing to take part in the contest, to analyze

CFP for the 2nd Workshop on Information Retrieval for Understudied Users
(IR4U2) - Bridging User-centered AI with IR: Making Information Retrieval
Accessible for All
Please join us at IR4U2, co-located with the 48th International ACM SIGIR
Conference on Research and Development in Information Retrieval, which will
take place 13th-18th July 2025 in Padua, Italy
Information Retrieval (IR) remains an active, fast-paced area of research.
Nevertheless, most advancements in this domain have primarily favored what
we might term 'conventional' users, such as adults from the global north.
We envision IR4U2 as a forum to spotlight research and industry efforts
that, while sparse, consider diverse, and often understudied, user groups.
Among these groups, we find, for example, older adults, young children and
adolescents, individuals afflicted by mental health disorders, users with
autism spectrum disorder (ASD), individuals with intellectual disabilities,
or those with specific learning needs.
In this second iteration of IR4U2, we will focus more specifically on a
**user-centred AI perspective**, which we believe is vital for informing
the design, development, and assessment of IR systems that thoughtfully
address the diverse needs of understudied populations, ensuring genuine
accessibility and inclusivity.
We aim to
• Build, extend and maintain a community involving multi-disciplinary Ph.D.
students, academics, and industry practitioners aiming to advance
understanding of core (AI for) IR technology and its impact on a broad
range of understudied users.
• Take inventory of the different kinds of use cases, research work,
ongoing efforts, and existing resources while reflecting on the progress
made since the last IR4U2 iteration.
• Define guidelines to promote user-centric design of IR systems.
• Outline a general approach to facilitate research endeavors driven by and
at the service of specific user groups
IR4U2 will be a highly participatory, full-day, in-person workshop. This
will involve informal interactions, facilitated group work, and brief
presentations of accepted contributions. These contributions will help
construct a snapshot of the current works in this area.

Submissions:
Peer reviewed contributions. These include research papers presenting
empirical explorations, user studies, and/or new algorithms related to the
open problems listed in topics of interest, as well as position/vision
contributions discussing uses cases, challenges, and future research

Papers involving AI must either (a) concern a software system as a whole, or a subsystem, and
not simply its AI or ML component, (b) consider software engineering artifacts, (c) target a

SPECIAL JOURNAL ISSUE
Authors of selected research papers accepted at SANER 2026 will be invited to submit revised,
extended versions of their manuscripts for a special issue featured by Springer’s Empirical
Software Engineering Journal (EMSE). The best papers from the conference will be awarded.
CALL FOR WORKSHOPS
In SANER 2026, we solicit proposals for workshops to be held in conjunction with the main
conference. Workshops can be full or half-day and should highlight a specific topic of interest
related to software analysis, evolution, and reengineering. We encourage workshop organizers
to include activities that provide their participants with a true workshop experience.
All workshops will tentatively be scheduled for the first day of the conference (March 17,
2026), the day before the main conference.

Submission Instructions
Proposal submission: By 20th August, 2025 AoE, the workshop proposal (in the form of call
for papers) should be submitted to the workshops EasyChair page:

The call for papers should include:

Evaluation Criteria
The proposals will be evaluated by the workshops track chairs based on the novelty of the
workshop topic, its importance to the field, as well as the composition of the
organizing team.
Workshop PC and Submission System
No later than mid of September 2025, the workshop PC should have been finalized and the
paper submission system should be live. Workshop organizers are free to select EasyChair,
HotCRP or any other commonly used paper submission system.
The workshop proceedings will be included in a separate section of the conference’s
proceedings – the companion proceedings.
CALL FOR TUTORIALS
The SANER 2026 Workshops & Tutorials track invites practitioners and researchers to deliver
insightful tutorials on various topics related to Software Analysis, Evolution, and
Reengineering.
These tutorials aim to expand the community’s understanding of advanced software
engineering topics, valuable tools and technologies, as well as research methodologies.
We are soliciting abstracts with the intention of presenting a tutorial in the following categories:
1 - Technical Tutorial: Speakers present the use of a tool or technology that aids the
developers in Software Analysis, Evolution, and Reengineering.
2 - Research problem: Speakers provide a general view of the state-of-the-art for a topic
related to Software Analysis, Evolution, and Reengineering and further present details of a
specific research problem that still needs to be addressed by the community.
Submission Instructions
The proposal should not exceed one page (with up to one additional page for references) and
should outline the talk. Furthermore, it should follow the IEEE Conference Proceedings
Formatting Guidelines (title: 24pt, text: 10pt; LaTeX users: \documentclass[10pt,conference]
{IEEEtran}). All proposals must be submitted in PDF format through

I'm pleased to share with you some information about the workshop we're
organizing for the conference #IDC2025 [1]. I hope you'll find it of
interest.
We aim to create AI systems that are not only effective but also
ethical, transparent, and empathetic, ensuring that children interact
with technology in a safe and informed way. At the heart of our
discussions, we have the following questions:
What shapes a child's trust--or distrust--in AI? And how can we design
AI systems that not only foster positive engagement, but also help
children understand limitations and manage expectations?
The C3AI (Child-centered Interaction and Trust in Conversational AI)
workshop invites researchers, designers, and practitioners to explore
how cognitive, emotional, and cultural factors influence children's
relationships with AI. As children increasingly interact with systems
like ChatGPT--often not designed with them in mind--there's a growing
need to create ethical, transparent, and empathetic AI experiences.
This workshop focuses on developing and refining child-centered
frameworks for trustworthy AI--frameworks that prioritize reliability,
safety, and ethical responsibility. Together, we'll envision AI systems
that empower children to think critically, engage thoughtfully, and

ubiquitous and adaptive scenarios, to enhance the personal experience in
cultural heritage sites. The workshop is aimed at bringing together,
physically and/or virtually, researchers and practitioners who are working
on various aspects of cultural heritage and are interested in exploring the
potential of state of the art mobile technology (onsite as well as online)
to enhance the CH visit experience. The expected result of the workshop is
a sharing and discussing novel ideas and creating a multidisciplinary

(IR4U2) - Bridging User-centered AI with IR: Making Information Retrieval
Accessible for All
Please join us at IR4U2, co-located with the 48th International ACM SIGIR
Conference on Research and Development in Information Retrieval, which will
take place 13th-18th July 2025 in Padua, Italy
Information Retrieval (IR) remains an active, fast-paced area of research.
Nevertheless, most advancements in this domain have primarily favored what
we might term 'conventional' users, such as adults from the global north.
We envision IR4U2 as a forum to spotlight research and industry efforts
that, while sparse, consider diverse, and often understudied, user groups.
Among these groups, we find, for example, older adults, young children and
adolescents, individuals afflicted by mental health disorders, users with
autism spectrum disorder (ASD), individuals with intellectual disabilities,
or those with specific learning needs.
In this second iteration of IR4U2, we will focus more specifically on a
**user-centred AI perspective**, which we believe is vital for informing
the design, development, and assessment of IR systems that thoughtfully
address the diverse needs of understudied populations, ensuring genuine
accessibility and inclusivity.
We aim to
• Build, extend and maintain a community involving multi-disciplinary Ph.D.
students, academics, and industry practitioners aiming to advance
understanding of core (AI for) IR technology and its impact on a broad
range of understudied users.
• Take inventory of the different kinds of use cases, research work,
ongoing efforts, and existing resources while reflecting on the progress
made since the last IR4U2 iteration.
• Define guidelines to promote user-centric design of IR systems.
• Outline a general approach to facilitate research endeavors driven by and
at the service of specific user groups
IR4U2 will be a highly participatory, full-day, in-person workshop. This
will involve informal interactions, facilitated group work, and brief
presentations of accepted contributions. These contributions will help
construct a snapshot of the current works in this area.

We will consider two different types of submissions:
Regular papers will be up to 10 pages (excluding references) and will
report original research on how cybersecurity and education can support

Extended Abstracts will be up to 4 pages (excluding references) and will

Aims and Scope
The workshop A2ID — 1st International Workshop on Augmented Artificial Intelligence: a Symbiotic Approach to Enhance Decision-Making has the objective to explore, through discussion and exchange of views, the role of human-AI interaction in domains where humans can make decisions with the help of AI-based systems. The workshop aims to investigate the potential of Symbiotic AI (SAI), a specialization of Human-Centered AI (HCAI), that aims at supporting humans, instead of replacing them while augmenting and enhancing their skills. Building SAI systems requires a multidisciplinary approach that integrates five disciplines: Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), AI, end-user Development (EUD), Law and Ethics, and Software Engineering (SE).
The expected outcome concerns a collection of insights that can guide the future definition of design patterns, evaluation techniques, and guidelines that can be applied to creating SAI systems that can be used during the decision-making process.
Participants are invited to submit contributions that revolve around the following topics focusing on the human-AI relationship in critical scenarios:
Novel interaction mechanisms to support professionals through AI.
Case studies investigating the relationship between humans and AI in critical contexts (e.g., industry, medicine).
Re-engineering of already-existing AI systems for problem-solving and decision-making.
Application of HCD and development techniques to AI-powered software to support humans in making decisions.
Evaluation methods and quality verification techniques for the creation or employment of AI-based systems.
Application of EUD methods and techniques to AI-based solutions that can help humans in making decisions.
Considerations of legal and ethical issues concerning the use of AI systems in contexts in which human responsibility and accountability play a crucial role.
Investigation concerning the role of trustworthiness in AI to support decision-making (e.g., AI systems used by professionals or patients for diagnostic/therapeutic support).

The key areas that will be investigated during the workshop revolve around the human-AI relationship in decision making, specifically:
- Human-AI Decision Support Systems
- Human-Computer Interaction for AI
- End-User Development methods, techniques, and tools for AI
- Human-Centered Design (HCD) applied to the creation of AI
- Trustworthy AI
- Ethical and Responsible AI
- Legal Frameworks for AI
- Software Engineering for creating AI-based systems
- Evaluation and Assessment of AI-based Systems

Submissions and Evaluation Criteria
Potential participants are invited to submit a position paper addressing the topics and goals of the workshop. Participants may submit novel ideas, work-in-progress, or well-founded works. Submissions should not exceed 10 pages in length (excluding references), and should be carefully formatted using the single-column CEUR-WS CEURAT template, available for both LaTeX and Word users at https://ceur-ws.org/Vol-XXX/CEURART.zip (an Overleaf template is also available for LaTeX users at https://www.overleaf.com/read/gwhxnqcghhdt).

Each submission will be reviewed by at least 2 members of the Program Committee, who will assess the relevance of the submission to the workshop's topics, as well as the technical soundness and presentation quality.
