Both types of submissions, if accepted, will be part of the workshop proceedings (CEUR-WS). With this workshop, we want to bring together these communities by highlighting the commonalities of the two, stressing their differences, and encouraging the contamination of their methods and results. We aim to do so by recognising that human beings can be the bridge between these two communities and the main objective for a human-centred design approach. With these reflections in mind, our workshop invites HCI and HRI researchers to develop proposals for theoretical, technical and design ideas that highlight thoughts on empowerment and the new challenges posed by the design of robots. We ask researchers to propose both perspectives: the utopian, which imagines ideal scenarios, and the dystopian, which explores potential challenges, reflecting on the role of artefact design and interaction in shaping these visions. Join us to explore the intricate bond between humans and robots for thoughtful HRI advancements. ############################################################# TOPICS Topics included in the workshop, but not limited to, are the following: HCI theories and methods and novel approaches applied to HRI, Cognitive Architectures for HRI. Concept papers on the role of technology and robots in empowering or challenging human well-being. Empirical studies for human empowerment with technology (e.g., SAR, Health care, educational context). Participatory design approaches for HRI applications (e.g., user-centred design for computer and robotic applications, human-centred, and interaction-based design) Research methods and challenges for different contexts (e.g., assistive and education) in the HRI field. Interaction with virtual or physical embodied agents, human factors and human-in-the-loop in HRI, group dynamics in HRI. Design relationship between humans and robots (multi-modal communication, robot personalities, gender robotics, empathy). Diversity, power dynamics, gender, racism, social stereotypes and vulnerable targets of users in HRI. Trust, acceptance and explainability in HRI; personalisation and end-user development of robot applications. Ethical issues (e.g. privacy, misuse and abusive interactions), social risks and fairness in HRI. ############################################################# ORGANISATION AND DURATION We plan to conduct a half-day workshop including the following activities: Welcome and opening (10 min.). Keynote speaker: Dr Giulia Perugia (confirmed) (30 min.) and Q&A (10 min.). Papers/Poster presentations (1.15 min.). Coffee Break (15 min). Focus groups (60 min.) moderated by Dr Carlo Mazzola. Closing remarks (15 min.). The workshop is planned to be in-person. Participants will propose discussion topics for a focus group session in the workshop's second part. Led by moderators, subgroups will facilitate idea exchange in designing HRI applications. Participants will then identify the most significant topics for the workshop at the session's conclusion. Call for Special Tracks Proposals - ACM GoodIT 2024

ACM GOODIT Conference Call for Special Tracks Proposals 4-6 September 2024, Bremen, Germany https://blogs.uni-bremen.de/goodit2024/ Scope GoodIT 2024 will feature special tracks whose aim is to focus on a specific topic of interest related to the overall scope of the conference. We solicit proposals for special tracks to be held within the main conference and whose publications will be included in conference proceedings. Tracks proposals can focus on any contemporary themes that highlight social good aspects in the design, implementation, deployment, securing, and evaluation of IT technologies. Special Track Proposal Format A special track proposal must contain the following information: Title of the special track The names of the organizers (indicatively, two) with affiliations, contact information, and a single paragraph of a brief bio. A short description of the scope and topics of the track (max 1/2 page) and a brief explanation of: (1) why the topic is timely and important; (2) why the topic is related to the conference’s main theme; (3) why the track may attract a significant number of submissions of good quality. Indication if a journal special issue is associated with the track, possibly with information on the process of selecting papers. The plan to disseminate the call for papers of the special track for achieving a reasonable number of paper submissions (a list of emailing lists will help). An outline of the foreseen reviewing process to ensure the scientific quality of the accepted papers including a tentative list of program committee members. A draft call for papers (max 1 page). Selection of Special Tracks Accepted Special Tracks will be curated by the Special Track Chairs, possibly involving other members of the conference’s organizing committee, and possibly discussing details with the Track Proposers. Publication Papers submitted to each particular track have to satisfy the same criteria as for the main conference. They must be original works and must not have been previously published. They have to be peer-reviewed by the track’s Program Committee (at least three reviews per submitted paper are required). The final version of papers must follow the formatting instructions of the main conference. At least one of the authors of all accepted papers must register and present the work at the conference on site; otherwise, the paper will not be published in the proceedings. All accepted and presented papers will be included in the conference proceedings published in ACM Digital Library. The special track may provide an option for publishing the extended versions of selected papers in a special issue of a journal. Special Track Proposal Submission Guidelines The proposal should be submitted as a single PDF file to the special track chairs (see below) via email to: ombretta.gaggi(a)unipd.it and jochen.meyer(a)offis.de. Competences and AI, by the way, are also topics that intersect and influence each other and rise questions of*ethical nature*. Last but not least, they are likely to require an organizational and didactic revolution of the learning ecosystems, thus requiring to question the possible consequences in order to build a more adequate future. In turn, this step requires inspiration from best practices to leverage the advantage of the growth of individuals and the expectations of the communities. What should we expect for future learning ecosystems? How “smart learning ecosystems” are changing? The Forum intends to serve as an interactive platform, encourage potential authors to present emerging topics and controversial positions, and demonstrate innovative systems, tools, and applications. The Forum sessions at the CAiSE conference will facilitate the interaction, discussion, and exchange of ideas among presenters and participants. Contributions to the CAiSE'24 Forum are welcome to address any of the CAiSE'24 conference topics and, particularly, this year's theme—Information Systems in the Age of Artificial Intelligence. We invite two types of submissions: • Visionary papers present innovative research projects, which are still at a relatively early stage and do not necessarily include a full-scale validation. Visionary papers will be presented as posters in the Forum. • Demo papers describe innovative tools and prototypes that implement the results of research efforts. The tools and prototypes will be presented as demos in the Forum, accompanied by a poster. Both visionary papers and demo papers must not exceed 8 pages in LNCS format. PUBLICATION AND PRESENTATIONS Accepted papers will be published by Springer in a CAISE Forum proceedings volume within the Lecture Notes in Business Information Processing (LNBIP) series (https://www.springer.com/series/7911). Authors should consult Springer's authors guidelines and use their LaTeX or Word proceedings templates for the preparation of their papers. Springer encourages authors to include their ORCIDs in their papers. In addition, the corresponding author of each paper, acting on behalf of all of the authors of that paper, must complete and sign a Consent-to-Publish form. The corresponding author signing the copyright form should match the corresponding author marked on the paper. Once the files have been sent to Springer, changes relating to the authorship of the papers cannot be made.
