[EICS 2023] Second Round CfP for the 15th ACM SIGCHI Symposium on Engineering Interactive Computing Systems (EICS)

Call for papers for the Second Submission round for EICS 2023 : The 15th ACM SIGCHI Symposium on Engineering Interactive Computing Systems June, 2023 - Swansea, UK https://eics.acm.org/2023/ Submission deadline for the Second round of PACM EICS 2023: October 24, 2022 EICS 2023 is the fifteenth international ACM SIGCHI conference devoted to engineering interactive computing systems and their user interfaces, addressing one or more software quality factors, such as usability, user experience, reliability, security, etc. Work presented at EICS covers all stages of the engineering life-cycle of interactive systems - inception, requirements, design, specification, coding, data analytics, validation and verification, deployment and maintenance. EICS has the longest tradition of bringing together researchers who contribute to better ways of creating interactive computing systems, stemming from the conference on command languages in the seventies. The conference is best known for rigorously contributing and disseminating research results that hold the midst in between user interface design, software engineering and computational interaction. EICS focuses on models, languages, notations, methods, techniques and tools that support designing, developing, validating and verifying interactive systems. The conference brings together people who study or practice the engineering of interactive systems, drawing from design, HCI, software engineering, requirements engineering, software development, modeling, and programming. Submissions advance the state of the art of the engineering of interactive systems. There are three submission deadlines per year, and authors can choose when to submit. Papers follow the traditional journal model of reviewing: papers may be accepted after submission and review, or may be recommended for revisions and re-submission to the next round to enable authors to refine papers based on reviewer recommendations. Submissions for the journal of this venue should present original and mature research work within the scope of the conference. New from this year: accepted journal papers can be either regular research papers, or technical notes. Technical Notes are shorter, more focused contributions, that focus specifically on system contributions and technical work. Elucidating technical details of complex interactive systems, preferably ensuring the work can be reproduced or put to practice, is a primary objective of a Technical Note. Tech Notes require an illustrative example of the system, and they can, but do not need to, be validated by formal user evaluations or user studies. Validation can also be done through e.g. simulation, feasibility, or comparisons.Tech Notes will be judged on their technical merits and relevance to interactive systems concerns. There are no length restrictions on Full Papers and Technical Notes, nor any limit to the number of references that may be included. We advise authors to ensure the length of their papers is in function of the contributions. Concise and clear is often to be preferred above lengthy and verbose. MobileHCI'23 - Open places in the Organizing Comiittee

Dear all, We have a few open positions in the Organizing Committee (OC) of ACM MobileHCI’23, which is to be held in Athens, Greece, on 26-29 September 2023. As promised in our bid, to increase representation from diverse backgrounds in the OC, these positions will be filled by an open call to the community. Research and technical papers are expected to present significant and original contributions validated with the targeted end-users. Submissions should clearly state the progress beyond the existing state-of- the-art and the expected societal benefits of the developed technology. Submissions We invite Research and Technical papers, up to 15 pages, describing original unpublished research, making a substantial contribution to the research field. All submissions will be reviewed by the Program Committee. Deadline Extended: Workshop on Designing Accessible Systems for Users with Multiple Impairments

*Based on popular demand, we have extended the submission deadline to Friday 30th September* We invite researchers and assistive technologists to share their perspectives related to challenges in designing accessible systems and assistive technologies that consider the multidimensional and often complex needs of users with multiple impairments. Workshop date: 23rd October 2022 (via Zoom) Historically, the accessibility community has focused on designing assistive technologies and systems related to single categories of impairments. While this approach is justifiable and contributes to the advancement of the field, many researchers argue that designing technologies for one impairment at a time contributes to an oversimplification of disability and does not reflect the real-world experiences of a significant number of users who live with multiple impairments. How can the accessibility field leverage theories and concepts from other disciplines (e.g. disability studies, medical humanities, social work, engineering, education) to support more appropriate and inclusive technologies for users with complex needs? How can future assistive technologies consider diverse sensory, cognitive, and physical characteristics? Please note that any prior experience with users with multiple impairments is not a requirement for participating in this workshop.
